 Earn Your Diploma From ChalleNGe Academy

  Students may earn their high school diploma, tuition free, from ChalleNGe Academy. As part of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, male and female at-risk youth, 16-18 years of age, learn job training, social skills and self-discipline, critical in today’s tough job market.

The academy offers nationally certified job skills, OSHA Certification and college classes through a local university.  For more information call 1-800-507-6253.


Weekend Events At VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance

Events at VFW Post 4100 for the weekend begins with bingo on Friday night, March 10. The doors will open at 5, sales begin at 6, and the games start at 7. Music for the regular Saturday night dance will be provided by Bobby Hood and Sandra Martin. The music begins at 8 and concludes at midnight. The doors open at 6. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy either, or both, of these events held in Post 4100’s  Home, located at 11535, Highway 315, west of Water Valley.


 Starnite Talent Show Scheduled For April 1 At Civic Auditorium

  The 33rd annual Starnite Talent Show will be held Saturday, April 1, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.and show time is from 7:45 until 11:15. This event offers the opportunity to be the star you always wanted to be. There will be dance groups, individuals, musicians, singers, and rap. All acts must be clean with no profanity. Trophies will be awarded and there will be a $150 cash award to the overall winner. This show is sponsored by Freddie Folson Sports. For  more information call (662) 230-4521. Groups from Charleston and Batesville and a dance group from Oxford have already signed up.


 Arts Council Sets Meeting Date

The Water Valley Arts Council will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the Water Valley Main Street Association office located at 207 North Main Street. WVHS Graduation Ceremony Will Be Held At Football Field

The Water Valley High School graduation ceremony will be held on Friday May 19, at Bobby Clark Field in Water Valley, at 7 p.m. This marks a change from recent years, when the ceremony was held at the University of Mississippi.


Yalobusha Bots Will Meet March 21 

The Yalobusha Bots (4-H robotic club) will meet on Tuesday, March 21, at 4 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Extension Office in Coffeeville. With summer fast approaching, the program includes two parts: 1. Contest Gear-Up and 2. Programming the robots to run a course on a map.  

Members will receive information on contests, summer contest are important and we should all begin thinking about them sooner rather than later.  If you will be in attendance, please contact the Yalobusha Co. Extension office at 675-2730, by Monday, March 20, at 5 p.m. 


 Homebuyer Ed Class Offered

A homebuyer education class is scheduled on Thursday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Extension Building This certified program will allow homebuyers to receive a certificate for credit toward various potential home buying loan agencies.  

Lunch will not be provided at the class; however, participants will take lunch from 12-1 p.m.  There will be a $50 dollar fee for the class.  Payments may be received through money order only.  To receive a registration form for this course, please contact Allyson Coleman at 662-675-2730.  Participants must register by Thursday, March 9 at 5 p.m.
