Party Committee

    A meeting will be held on July 24 in the Multi-Purpose Building at 18025 Highway 7 in Coffeeville at 6:30 p.m. to reorganize the Yalobusha County Republican Committee. “All Republicans are welcome,” stated Eddie Ray, temporary chairman.

Paris Baptist Church Benefit Slated For
Saturday, July 21

    A benefit fish fry for Sammy Sockwell will be held at Paris Baptist Church Saturday, July 21, beginning at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend and donations will be appreciated.

Goad Family Plans Reunion

Retirees Schedule Quarterly Meeting

    The Yalobusha County Retired Educational Personnel Association will hold its quarterly meeting on Thursday, July 26, 2007, in the Mechanics Bank Community Room at 10 a.m.
    “All members are asked to be prompt and to bring prospective members with them to aid in the effort to enroll all the retirees in our county,” stated Mamie H. Shields, president, and Dorothy A. Kee, secretary.

VFW Bingo Action Set For Friday Night

    VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, July 20. Come join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their post home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begins at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Corner Stone Band Will Perform At VFW

    It’s party time at VFW Post 4100, Water Valley. There is live band music every Saturday. Featured this Saturday night, July 21, will be Corner Stone Band. Music begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” says Commander Joe Gross.

Election Night Activities Planned By
Fairgounds Association

The Tri-Lakes Fairgrounds Association will broadcast election results the night of the Democratic Primary, on August 7, at the gazebo at City Park.
Election results will be displayed as they are counted according to Bobby Murphree. Concessions will also be offered, and everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Historical Society Offers Program
On History From Newspaper Articles

The Yalobusha County Historical Society, Inc., will meet at 2 p. m. Thursday, July 19, in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church in Coffeeville. Jack Gurner, Jr., of Water Valley, will speak on “History – Who Cares?” This is a compilation of stories taken from very old newspapers. The public is invited.

McClain’s Will Celebrate 50 Years

    The children of Carl and Rosie McClain request the honor of your presence at a celebration of 50 Years of marital bless. The wedding anniversary ceremony and reception for the Reverend and Mrs. Carl McClain will be held on July 21, between the hours of two and four o’clock in the afternoon in First Assembly of God, Water Valley.

Mt. Moriah Offers Tennis For Youth

    The Mt. Moriah District Association Youth Department in conjunction with Mr. Patrick Tibbs, Tennis Service Representative (MS), invites you to meet us at the Mt. Moriah District Association Building on Saturday, July 21, from 11 a.m. to noon.
    Tibbs will share a special, on-site presentation. His hope is that the team tennis program will be a great pathway for everyone, enabling them to play tennis for life.
