Friendship Church Announces Yard Sale
  The ladies of Friendship Baptist Church invites everyone to a yard and bake sale at the church on North Main Street October 20, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Cossar Will Host Red One Rook Action
  A Red One Rook Tournament will be held at Cossar State Park in the Visitor Center, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 20. “Please call, Cossar State Park (662) 623-7356, to pre-register,” says Park Manager Richard Ross.

Cossar Will Host Halloween Activities
  Cossar State Park will hold its annual Halloween activities Saturday, October 27. Games and a cake walk will be held in the visitor center. Other activities will include the haunted trail ride, pumpkin carving, costume contest, and story telling by Carol Denham.    
    Activities begin at 7 p.m. and will continue until 10 p.m.

County Education Retiree’s Meet October 25
  The Yalobusha County Retired Educational Personnel Association will hold its quarterly meeting on Thursday, October 25, in the Mechanics Bank Community Room, Water Valley. “We are still recruiting members. Please attend and bring a friend,” says Mrs. Mamie H. Shields, President, and Dorothy A. Kee, Secretary. Educational updates will be discussed.

VFW Bingo To Be Played Friday Night
  VFW Bingo will be played Friday Night, October 19. Come out and join Post 4100 for a fun filled night of Bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 tames starts at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Grief Support Sessions Set For October 24
  North Mississippi Hospice of Oxford will have a monthly Grief Support Group on Wednesday, October 24. from noon to 1 p.m. at Azalea Gardens.
    North Mississippi Hospice of Batesville will be having a monthly Grief Support Group on Thursday, October 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Baymont Inn (formerly Amerihost) in Batesville. Anyone interested may attend. For more information, please contact Olivia Partlow at 662-234-0140.

Hog Wild Country To Play At VFW Dance Saturday Night
  “Hog Wild Country” will again be the featured band at the regular Friday Night VFW Dance on October 20th. Each week live band music is featured at these dances. Music begins at 8 p.m. and plays until Midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” stated Commander Joe Gross.

VFW Meeting Set For Thursday At 7 pm
  The monthly meeting of Veterans  of Foreign Wars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be held Thursday, October 18, beginning at 7 p.m. “All members are urged to attend, your presence is needed. We are also seeking new members,” stated Commander Joe Gross.

Oakland Fall Fest To Be Held October 27
 Join The Word of Life Ministries and the Oakland Community on Saturday, October 27, for the First Annual Oakland Community Fall Harvest Festival.
  There will be vendors, political candidates, state and local officials, as well as community leaders and many fun activities for the youth as well as the adults. The Festival is to promote the Oakland Community and to bring exposure to the needs of the community as well. “We will also have rental space available,” stated Charlotte Crowder and Andrea Robinson. Haunted Hollow At Pine Valley October 26-27
  Pine Valley Fire Department will host their Annual Haunted Hollow on October 26 and 27, beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing until 12 Midnight. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers for purchasing. “Come if you dare,” states Fire Chief Ricky Wood.

Yalobusha Republicans To Meet October 18
  The Yalobusha County Republican Committee will meet again Thursday, October 18th, at 6p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building at Coffeeville. Bring a Republican Party List is you have one. Plans are to continue purging the old roll.

John’s Joggers Walk To D’Feet ALS Oct. 20
    The Memphis Walk to D’feet ALS will be held this Saturday, Oct. 20, at Audubon Park in Memphis.  John’s Joggers, a team made up of family and friends of the late John Coker, a former Water Valley resident, will participate in the walk. Christmas Parade Scheduled for December 1
  The 2007 Water Valley Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 1st, beginning at 1 p.m. To enter units in the Parade contact Parade Chairman J. C. Womble at 473-1742 or Co-Chairman Michael Redwine at 473-4254.

Annual Bell Reunion Is October 21
  The annual James D. Bell Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, October 21, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle at Water Valley. Families and friends are invited to attend.

Cossar Will Be Scene Of Gospel Music
  There will be a gospel music singing at Cossar State Park, featuring Jerry and Spin Smith Jerry and B. J. King, and Joyce Johnson, all from Oakland. The singing will be held in Cossar’s Visitor Center, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25.
