Chamber Will Sponsor Lighting Contest
The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Christmas Lighting Contest again this year. Residential and Business will be the categories. Prizes for the winners will be: First Place, $100; Second Place, $75; and Third Place, $50.
If you would like to participate come by and sign up at the Chamber of Commerce Office. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9-12 and 1-3:30, and Wednesday, 9-12 only.
Judging will be done on the weekend of December 15 and 16. Be sure to have your lights on those days until 9 p.m.
Library Plans Pajama Storytime With Santa On December 15
The staff of Blackmur Memorial Library is looking for kids of all ages to come out Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. for Storytime with Santa. Kids can wear their pajamas and fuzzy slippers to this event! Santa will have lots and lots of goodies for those of you who have been very, very good this year. Also, you can enjoy refreshments with Santa. So mark your calendars and come out for a fun-filled morning with Santa and the Library Staff. Blackmur Memorial Library is located at 608 Blackmur Drive. Bingo Action Set For Friday Night
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, December 7. Come join members of VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their post home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Danny Sexton’s Band Will Perform At VFW Dance Saturday Night
The VFW Saturday Night Dance features a live band each week. On December 8, featured will be Danny Sexton’s Band. Music begins at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” says Commander Joe Gross.
Ladies Auxiliary Quilt Chances Offered
Joe Willie Adams, Jr. VFW Ladies Auxiliary is selling chances for a beautiful hand-quilted quilt. The drawing for this beautiful hand-made quilt, made and donated by member, Donna Rakestraw, will be held Saturday, December 8, at 10 p.m.
Donna asked that the proceeds go to a deserving family. Anyone who has not purchased a ticket to date may do so by contacting any of the auxiliary members or by coming by the post on Friday evening.
VFW Meeting Changes From Normal Time
The date for the regular monthly meeting of VFW Post 4100 and its Auxiliary has been changed this month only, because of Christmas. Please note that the meeting in December will be held the second Thursday, instead of the normal third Thursday. Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Thursday, December 13, at 7 p.m.
“All members are urged to attend and your presence is needed. We are seeking new members,” stated Commander Joe Gross.
OES Set Meeting Date As December 11
Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Easter Star, will hold its next regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 11, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle.
“This will be our Christmas Party, with finger foods and snacks at 6:30. We encourage all members to attend,” stated Katie Partain, Worthy Matron.

Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will holds its regular stated Communication on Thursday, December 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. “We urge you to support your local lodge,” says Freddie McDougal, WM.
Everdale Christmas Play Scheduled By Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry at Everdale Missionary Baptist Church will host the performance of a Christmas Play on December 23, in the Civic Auditorium in Water Valley at 7 p.m. The title of the play is “The True Meaning of Christmas”. The focus of the play points to Jesus as the reason for the season.

Everdale Women’s Ministry Will Feature Evangelist Walton
The Women’s Ministry at Everdale MB Church will host a meeting on Saturday, December 8, from noon until 2 p.m. at Everdale MB Church. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Theresa Walton.
The subject will be “Single While Serving God” and all ladies are invited to attend.
