The unofficial target range located near the Prophet Bridge Boat Landing has been closed, according to Billy Samuels, park manager for Enid Lake.

A petition signed by 35 area residents was presented to Corps of Engineers officials asking that the land be closed to target shooters.

The area affected is on government property just west of Hwy. 315.

“There has always been a litter problem,” Samuels said.

“We felt it was best to close the area to target shooting, but hunting is still allowed under state guidelines,” he added.
