Hammond and Hoskins Participate in Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game

Water Valley High School head football coach Trent Hammond and all-star linebacker Antonio Hoskins have been selected to participate in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star high school football game in Mobile, Ala. on December 17, 2007.

Coach Hammond was selected to coach the defensive backs and some special teams units.  Antonio Hoskins was selected as one of three linebackers.  Coach Hammond was chosen by the Mississippi Association of Coaches Football Committee for his distinguished career and the quality of performance his teams consistently exhibit.

Antonio Hoskins was chosen by the Mississippi Association of Coaches Football Committee, the All-Star coaches, and members of the media as one of 37 players chosen in Mississippi based on their review of game films and his play during the season.

“We’re delighted that Coach Hammond and Antonio were chosen to participate in this year’s All-Star game.  This honor reflects well on our athletic program, and on our school district,” notes Superintendent Sammy Higdon.  Higdon continues, “It is a particularly special commendation for Coach Hammond and Antonio Hoskins who have worked hard for many years to hone their skills and to reach this level of excellence.“

“We’ll obviously miss Antonio, his leadership, and athletic skills next year,” says Higdon, “and we wish him well in his future athletic career.”  “We’re proud of the hard work that our young Blue Devil football team did during the last football season “ Higdon continues.

The team will travel from Jackson to Mobile on December 12th, and the players will practice twice each day until the 17th.  The game will be televised on Fox Sports South at 7 p.m. on December 17.
