Invasive Species Specialist Will Conduct Educational Program In Coffeeville
There will be an educational program on Invasive Plants in Mississippi at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15. Dr. Victor Maddox, Mississippi State University Invasive Species Specialist, will conduct the program via distance learning.
Anyone interested in learning more about Cogongrass, Tropical Soda Apple, or any other invasive plants is invited to this program. You might be surprised at the top 10 invasive plants. This program is sponsored by the Mississippi State Homemakers Volunteers State Committee, chaired by Carol Whitsett of Oakland. The program is free and open to the public.
MSU Extension Service Will Offer Childcare Distance Training
The Yalobusha County Extension Service will open its site for the next Childcare Distance Training to be held Thursday, January 10, from 6:15-8:15 p.m. The topic for this training is “Creative Curriculum: Defining Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers.”
This training are free services and provides two contact hours for childcare providers. Please contact our office at (662) 675-2730 if you plan to attend.
VFW Plans Bingo Action
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, January 11. Join members of VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
VFW Sets Meeting Date For January 17
Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Thursday, January 17, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend—your presence is needed. Both organizations are seeking new members.
Come Shake A Leg At The VFW
The regular VFW Saturday night dance will be held January 12. These dances feature live bands and this week the featured band will be Danny Sexton’s Band. Music begins at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight.

Everdale Will Sponsor Benefit Program For Cancer Victim
Everdale M.B. Church will be sponsoring a benefit program for Sis. Mary Ann House, who has been diagnosed with cancer. The pastor and Everdale Church family cordially invite everyone to participate in this event on Saturday, January 12, beginning at 6 p.m.
Yalobusha Homemakers Announce Travel Program Set For January 15
Yalobusha County Homemakers will host a program on travel at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, in the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Melvin Ford and William Jeffreys with Renasant Bank will conduct the program, providing information on the trips sponsored by Renasant Bank during 2008.
The program is free and open to the public.
Masonic Chapters Monthly Meeting Scheduled For January 10
McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM & J. J. Melton Council No. 50 will hold their regular scheduled meetings at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle on Thursday, January 10.
Members are reminded that the meeting time has been changed to 7 p.m. during the winter months only. All members of these two masonic bodies are encouraged to attend. New officers for the coming year will be installed at this meeting. These bodies state that they need your help and support during this Masonic Year.
