Magnolia Youth League Registration Dates Set For February 23, March 1 And 8
Registration for boy’s baseball and girl’s softball will be held February 23, March 1, and March 8. There will be a $20 late registration fee after March 8. Cost will be $45 for the first child, $35 for second child, and $30 for third and each additional child.
Try-outs will be held March 17, 18, and 20.
Coaching applications may be picked up on the Saturday’s of registration and are to be returned by March 10.
A road block will be held on Good Friday, March 21.
A High School Baseball Camp is also scheduled for March 22 from 8 a.m. until noon.
The opening day will be held April 14, which also marks the beginning of the 2008 season.
Let’s get signed-up and play some ball. All children are encouraged and are needed to play ball, says Magnolia Youth League officials.
Grief Support Offered By Hospice
The Grief Support Group, sponsored by North Mississippi Hospice of Oxford, will offer meetings in Oxford on February 12 from 6-7 p.m. in Azalea Garden and on February 27, from noon -1 p.m. in the upstairs sunroom with lunch provided.

Extension Service To Host Quick Bites Program on February 14
Do you have tons of photos stored on your computer and no idea what to do with them? In this class, participates will take a look at the fun things you can do with photos. From refrigerator magnets to home movies on DVD, attendees will get their pics out of the “My Pictures” folder and out in the open for all to see. Bring a sack lunch and join us for this program at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building on Thursday, February 14 at noon.
Yalobusha County Extension Service Will Hold Interactive Video Childcare Training
The Yalobusha County Extension Service will open its site for the next Childcare Distance Training to be held Saturday, February 16, from 8 am until 2:30 pm. The topic of this training is “ELG: How Children Learn, The Learning Environment, Developing Thematic Units and Lesson Plans (Part 1)”. This training is a free service and will provide six contact hours for childcare providers. Please contact the extension office at 675-2730 to reserve a spot.
Historical Society To Meet
The Yalobusha County Historical Society, Inc., will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church in Coffeeville. Rev. Larry Dickerson, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Water Valley, will speak on “The Life of Patrick Henry.” The public is invited to all Society meetings.
Food Safety Certification Class Offered
ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught every Monday afternoon 1 – 5 p.m. in March (3, 10, 17, 24, and 31) at the Yalobusha County Extension Service. The cost of the course is $125. The deadline to register is February 18, and the class is limited to 25 people.

VFW Bingo Action Planned Friday Night
Anyone 18 years old or older is cordially invited to play bingo at VFW Post 4100’s Post Home Friday night, February 15. The post is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m.
Wild Hogs Band To Perform At VFW Dance
It’s party time at VFW Post 4100, Water Valley. A live band plays each Saturday night and this Saturday, February 16, featured will be the Wild Hog Country Band. Music begins at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the Post Home located at 11535 Highway 315, Water Valley,” States Commander Joe Gross.
Cossar Park Officials Host Rook Tourney
Red One Rook will be played at Cossar State Park every Thursday. This will be in the Cossar’s Visitor Center, starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14. “Everyone is welcome, it is open to the public, so if you like to play Red One Rook, come join us,” says Richard Ross, Park Manager.
Masonic Chapters Set Meeting Date
McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM & J.J. Melton Council No. 50 will hold its regular scheduled meeting at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle Thursday, February 14. Members are reminded that the meeting time has been changed to 7 p.m. during Central Standard Time only. All members of these two masonic bodies are encouraged to attend. “We need your held and support during this Masonic Year,” stated Edward Huckaby, H.P. and Clyde Herron, ILL.M.

FUMC Will Host Lenten Luncheons
First United Methodist Church of Water Valley is pleased to present the Lenten luncheons during lent again this year, beginning at noon February 14, and continuing through March 13. February Tech Expo Cancelled, Career Fair Set For February 15
The Water Valley High School Tech Expo announced last October has been canceled and replaced with a different format. If you had previously responded as a possible participant, please make a note of this cancellation. Instead of the Expo, organizers will host a career fair during school hours on February 15. Many of the speakers have already been confirmed, however, if you would like to be part of that event, contact the high school with your information and someone will return your call.
Garbage Pickup Delayed For Holiday
All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, February 18, for a state holiday. Monday’s garbage route will be picked up with Tuesday’s garbage route.
