Magnolia Youth League Registration Dates Scheduled February 23, March 1 And 8
Registration for boy’s baseball and girl’s softball will be held February 23, March 1, and March 8. There will be a $20 late registration fee after March 8. Cost will be $45 for the first child, $35 for second child, and $30 for third and each additional child.
Try-outs will be held March 17, 18, and 20.
Coaching applications may be picked up on the Saturday’s of registration and are to be returned by March 10.
A road block will be held on Good Friday, March 21.
A high school baseball camp is also scheduled for March 22 from 8 a.m. until noon.
The opening day will be held April 14, which also marks the beginning of the 2008 season.
Let’s get signed-up and play some ball. All children are encouraged and are needed to play ball, report Magnolia Youth League officials.
Rev. Dickey Will Speak At Historical Society
The Yalobusha County Historical Society, Inc., will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church in Coffeeville. Rev. Larry Dickerson, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Water Valley, will speak on “The Life of Patrick Henry.” The public is invited to all Society meetings.
Food Safety Certification Class Offered
ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught every Monday afternoon 1 – 5 p.m. in March (3, 10, 17, 24, and 31) at the Yalobusha County Extension Service. The cost of the course is $125. The deadline to register is February 18, and the class is limited to 25 people.

Vender Spaces Available For Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival
Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival will be held April 8-12 in the Greene County Rural Events Center in Leakesville. Two Rivers Bluegrass Festival is a yearly festival attracting campers from all over the United States, as well as all Mississippi counties. Vendor spaces will be available for arts and crafts, business information, sales, promotions or demonstrations. Inside vendor space and spaces with electricity are limited. Applications will be accepted on a “first come-first serve” basis. This means that the first applications received, paid and approved will be those who receive a choice location. VFW Bingo Action Scheduled Friday
Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, Friday night, February 22. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Danny Sexton Band Will Perform At VFW Dance Saturday Night
VFW Post 4100’s Saturday Night Dances feature a live band each week. The featured band on February 23 will be Danny Sexton’s Band. Music begins at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the Post Home located at 11535, Hwy. 315, west of Water Valley,” says Commander Joe Gross.
VFW Monthly Meeting Will Be Thursday
Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting Thursday, February 21, beginning at 7 p.m. “All members are urged to attend, as your presence is needed. Also, we are seeking new members,” stated Commander Joe Gross.

Y-Fest Prayer Meetings Conclude Feb. 26
The Y-Fest Prayer Meeting on February 26 will be held in the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building at Coffeeville, beginning at 7 p.m. This will be the last of the series of prayer meetings. A work day has been scheduled for Thursday, February 28, beginning at 1 p.m Y-Fest will be Friday, February 29, and Saturday, March 1 in the Multipurpose Building with Steve Knox as speaker for this event, and the Chris White Band leading the praise service.
Diabetic Wellness Team Meeting Scheduled
The Water Valley Diabetic Wellness Team will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 27, beginning at noon in the Edgar Community Center Building at Rolling Hills. The public is invited to attend. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite recipe to be included in the recipe book. You are reminded to include your name on the recipe.
Jeff Davis Water Will Have Annual Meeting
The Jeff Davis Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting March 3, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting in the Association Building, located at 13589 Highway 32 West, Water Valley.
Homemakers Host Children’s Workshop
Yalobusha Homemakers will host a Children’s Craft Workshop on Saturday, February 23, in the Multipurpose Building at Coffeeville. The Workshop will be from 9 a.m. until noon. Bring a sack lunch. Precinct Caucuses Scheduled For Feb. 23
Precinct Caucuses will be held in all voting precincts in Yalobusha County on Saturday, February 23, 2008, beginning at 10 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to elect delegates to go to the County Convention on March 15, at 10:00 a.m. in the Coffeeville Courthouse.
At the Precinct Caucuses, a candidate will campaign to be a delegate to the County Convention. At least two delegates from each Precinct will be elected to go to the County Convention.
