Football Camp Scheduled In June
The Water Valley football camp will be held June 23, 24 and 25, from 8 a.m. until noon each day.
This camp will cost $40 for each participant in fifth and sixth grades. The camp is free to seventh graders because they will be playing for the school during the upcoming season.
Dateline for registration is May 30. Turn in your registration form to: Coach Brown or Mrs. Gilley at the elementary school.
Every athlete will receive lunch each day at the elementary school. They will also receive a camp t-shirt. Drop-off will be at the high school football field all three mornings at 8 a.m. and pick-up will be at the elementary school at noon.
Garden Club Offers Brick Pavers
The Garden Club of Water Valley is selling commemorative 4”x8” Brick Pavers for the front of the Gazebo in the City Park. If more information is needed, contact Cheryl Pass at 473-2114, Jane Franklin at 473-2138, or Sandi Beyer, 473-9653.
Extension Services Offers Pine Thinning Forestry Program
On Tuesday, June 17th, a forestry meeting entitled “Pine Plantation Thinning Cost Share” will be held at 6:30 pm at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. This is a special program conducted by Dr. Andy Londo, MSU-ES Forestry Department Head of North Mississippi. This is an excellent program for all forest landowners. Please call the Extension office at 675-2730 by June 12 to make reservations.
Chamber Offers Carnival Ads
The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is selling ads for the 2008 Watermelon Carnival Program.Anyone interested in purchasing an ad, please call the Chamber Office at 473-1122 by June 16.
VFW Plans Friday Bingo Action
Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, Friday, June 6. Play will begin at 7 p.m. You must be 18 years old, or older, to play.
Road House Entertains At VFW Dance
The VFW Saturday Night Dance featured live music each week. Featured on June 7 will be a hot new country band, Road House. The dance, held in the Post Home at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at 12 Midnight. A concession stand is available.
VFW Plans Friday Bingo Action
Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next regular stated Communication at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. “We urge you to support your local lodge,” says J. W. Tuggle, WM.
Eastern Star Meeting Includes Initiation Of New Member
Water Valley Chapter #5, Order of Eastern Star, will hold its next regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 10, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. “We will initiate a new member at this meeting,” stated Marjorie Clay, Worthy Matron. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. “We encourage all members to attend,” concluded Mrs. Clay.
VFW Hosts Inside Yard Sale
Water Valley VFW Post 4100, 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, will host an “Inside Yard Sale” June 7, from 8 a.m. until 12 Noon. Donations are welcome. For more information call (662) 563-3454.
