Homemakers Offer Interior Design

    The Yalobusha County Homemakers’ Council is hosting a Home Interior Design Program at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building.  Ellen Shaw of Bruce will conduct the program, which is open to the public.

VFW Announces Monthly Meeting

  Water Valley VFW Post 4100 holds their regular monthly meetings each third Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. This month’s meeting will be June 19 in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.

Valley City Lodge Will Initiate New Member

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 will initiate a new member into the Entered Apprentice Degree on Thursday, June 19. The meeting will begin with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m., with Degree Work following. This event will be held in the Masonic Temple, located on Champion Circle. “All F&AM Masons, who have attained this degree are invited to attend,” stated J. W. Tuggle, W.M.

VFW Announces Bingo Action

  Bingo will be played at the Post Home of VFW Post 4100, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, on Friday, June 20, beginning at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years old to play.

Come Shake A Leg At The VFW

  The regular VFW Saturday night dance features live music each week. Featured on June 21 will be “Road House”, a hot new country band. Dancing is from 8 p.m. until midnight. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession will be available. For more information call (662) 473-4456.

Stewart Reunion Set For July 5

    The 29th annual Stewart reunion will be held Saturday, July 5, in the Masonic Temple at 122 Champion Circle, just off Highway 7 south, Water Valley. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring a “pot luck” dish to share at noon. If you have questions, contact Patricia at 473-4788. “We hope to see you there,” she concludes.

Registration Underway For Blackmur Summer Reading Program

  Registration for Blackmur Memorial Library’s summer reading program has begun. All children from pre-school through 12th grade are welcome to sign up. This year’s theme is “Catch the Reading Bug.” Registration forms are available at the library. For more information, please contact the library at 473-2444.

Everdale Announces Homecoming Fun

    Everdale Missionary Baptist church will have a pre-homecoming welcome  program on Saturday, July 5, beginning at 10:30 am. After the welcome program fish plates will be available for $5 each. The annual homecoming celebration is Sunday, July 6, beginning at 3 p.m. Revered John Crowder, pastor of  Spring Hill West MBC in Oxford and his church family will be the special guest.

    Rev. Phillip Brackett serves as pastor, Sister Dollie Ann  Henderson is chairperson, and Sister Sandra Woodard is church clerk. Everdale is  located at 410 Calhoun Street in Water Valley, Mississippi.

Extension Services Schedules Annual Wildflower Tour At Tillatoba

    The Annual Wildflower Tour will be held at the Jamie L. Whitten Plant Materials Center on June 25th.  Registration is from 8 – 11 am.  Wagon tours of the wildflower fields and grasses will be held throughout the day starting at 8:15 am.  Tour stops will include Wildflower Establishment, Pollinators, Native Grasses and Wildflowers, and Invasive Plants.  

    Indoor presentations will include topics such as “The Conscientious Gardner” by Dr. Lelia Kelly and “Edible Landscaping” by Susan Harkness.  Admission is $3 and will include a hamburger lunch.  Please call the Yalobusha County Extension Service at 675-2730 to make reservations or for further information.

Wood Invites Family, Friends To New Home

     Nora Wood invites family and friends to her housewarming at her new home that the Lord has blessed her. The event is Saturday, June 21, at 3 p.m.  Open house will held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for those who are unable to attend the house warming party.  A wishlist gift registry has been set up at WalMart.  Her home is located off Hwy 32W in Oakland, across from Oakland One Stop.

Chamber Offers Carnival Ads – Seeks Class Photos

    The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is selling ads for the 2008 Watermelon Carnival Program.Anyone interested in purchasing an ad can call the Chamber Office at 473-1122 by June 23. The Chamber is seeking class group or composite photographs from graduating classes who are having reunions this year.

Steadman Brothers To Sing At Tillatoba Baptist Church

Yalobusha County Historical Society Announces Thursday Meeting

    The Yalobusha County Historical Society, Inc., will meet at 2 p. m. Thursday, June 19, in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be Keith Bloodworth, of The Edward Jones Firm in Grenada. His subject will be “The History of Wall Street.” The public is invited to all society meetings.
