Class of 1948 Invites Schoolmates And Friends To Reunion
Schoolmates and friends are invited to join the Water Valley High School Class of 1948 from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the Yalobusha Country Club on August 2.
Water Valley High School Class of 1961 Schedule Reunion For August 2
The Water Valley High School Class of 1961 will have a reunion during Watermelon Carnival weekend.
The fellowship hall of First Christian Church has been reserved for the class on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for this event. The church is located across the street from, and on the corner, southwest of the park. Use the entrance on the southwest corner of the church, which will be marked with signs.
Members of the class and a guest are cordially invited to come and visit with old friends. Anyone who was ever a part of this class, whether or not you graduated with the class, is welcome. Teachers and coaches are also invited.
Light snacks and soft drinks will be served as they are furnished. Attendess may bring refreshments if they wish. Members of the reunion committee are looking forward to seeing you there.
Tillatoba Fire Department Announces Poker Run Fundraiser
A Poker Run will be held at the Tillatoba Volunteer Fire Department Saturday, July 26, beginning at 3 p.m.
All bikes and antique cars are welcome. The first hand wins 50 percent of the entry fees; second hand wins $50; and the worst hand wins $25. The fire department is located two miles west of I-55 at Exit 220, on Hwy. 330.
Plate lunches will be $5 each. A raffle drawing for a $100 gas giveaway will be held after the Poker Run. A special thanks goes to United Country Pro Realty for donations of the plate lunches. All proceeds will go to the Tillatoba Fire Department.

Class of ‘88 Schedules Reunion

Panola Playhouse Presents Disney’s High School Musical
The Panola Playhouse in Sardis will present Disney’s “High School Musical” in a version geared toward high school and junior high audiences. The Friday and Saturday shows, on July 25 and 26, start at 7:30 p.m.; the performance on Sunday, July 27, begins at 2:30 p.m.

Byford Memorial Award Will Be Presented During Horse Show
On July 26 at 3 p.m. there will be a judged horse show followed by a timed event horse show starting no earlier than 6:30 pm. In between the shows there will be a dedication of the Cody Byford Memorial Award. You are invited to come and be present for this special event. We hope to see you there.
Jeff Davis School Members Schedule Carnival Weekend Reunion
The Jeff Davis School reunion will be held Saturday, August 2, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Masonic Lodge Building on Champion Circle. Special guest will be Mike Worsham who will have copies of the Jeff Davis Historical Books. “Please bring a covered dish and all students, family and friends are invited to attend,” stated Jim Tate and the reunion committee.
MSU – Extension Service to Host Quick Bites Program
On Thursday, July 24, there will be a Quick Bites program on “Tai Chi” at the Multi-purpose building in Coffeeville beginning at noon. This was a big hit last year, so organizers are bringing it back. Come learn about the ancient martial art form “Tai Chi” and all its benefits. You will learn a little bit about its history, the four different styles of Tai Chi, the benefits it has over a regular exercise program, and how you can get started.
This program will begin at noon and is open to the public, so please bring a sack lunch and join us for a fun and informative program at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. For more information, please call our office at 675-2730.
Masonic Lodge Holds Meeting Thursday
St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will hold its next stated conclave on Thursday, July 24, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. “Please support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. We need your help and support,” stated Jim Ward, Commander.
School Requires Two Proofs Of Residence For Registration
ALL NEW and RETURNING students must furnish two proofs of residence for registration in the Water Valley School System. “This is a new requirement for RETURNING students,” stated Dr. Glenn Kitchens, High School Principal. Bring proofs for copy, or bring copies ready for submission, to registration.
VFW Will Have Friday Night Bingo
Bingo will be played at the Post Home of VFW Post 4100 Friday night, July 25, beginning at 7 p.m. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. You must be at least 18 years old to play.
VFW Announces Weekend Band
The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance on July 26 will feature The Danny Saxton Band. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Springhill Day Care Plans Open House
Springhill North Child Care will host an open house Thursday, July 24, from 6 – 7 p.m. All parents with children currently attending, as well as prospective parents interested in their child/children attending this facility, are urged to attend. The center has undergone both internal and external renovations with regards to the facility’s appearance and curriculum.
Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant Tickets Now On Sale
Tickets are now on sale for the 59th Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant, to be held August 1-2 at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.
Thirty-eight contestants from across the state will be in Hattiesburg for one week competing for the title of Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2008. Contestants will arrive in Hattiesburg on Sunday, July 27th to experience a full week of rehearsals, special events and competition. The culmination of the week is the crowning of the new Miss Hospitality, which begins with the preliminary competition on Friday, August 1st and the final competition on Saturday, August 2nd. The pageant will begin at 8 p.m. both nights.
