O’Tuck School Reunion Is August 9

  The O’Tuckolofa School reunion will be held Saturday, August 9, in O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Food will be furnished. “Come and bring your family and friends. See you Saturday, August 9,” stated reunion committee members.

Parker Family Reunion Scheduled

  The annual reunion of the descendants of Henry P. and Nancy Barnes Parker will be held on Sunday, August 10, in the American Legion Building at Calhoun City. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring food and soft drinks or tea for a potluck lunch to be served at noon. Henry and Nancy Parker were the parents of one daughter, Mary Frances “Fannie” Parker Benoist, and seven sons, William Joseph, John Thomas, Burl Brown, Jasper Felto, Henry Sidney, Jackson Ferdinand, and Aquilla. Tri-Lakes Announces Aug. 9 Horse Show

    The final Tri-Lakes Western Horse Show for the year will be held on Saturday, August 9.  The judged show will start at 3 p.m. and the timed event show will start around 8 p.m.  Everyone is invited to come and see the final show and, as usual, there is no charge and the show is open to the public.

Eastern Star Schedules Meeting

  Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will hold its next regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 12, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. “We encourage all members to attend,” stated Marjorie Clay, Worthy Matron.

Masonic Lodge Meeting Is Thursday

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next regular stated Communication at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. “We urge you to support your local lodge,” stated J. W. Tuggle, WM.

Johnson Fish Fry Benefit To Be Held

  A benefit fish fry for Trent Johnson will be held Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the home of Levonia Johnson Hoskins and Roland Hoskins, located at 331 Suggs Street, Water Valley. Donations  suggested are $10 per plate and your help will be greatly appreciated.

Danny Saxton Band Will Perform At VFW Dance Saturday Night

  The Danny Saxton Band will be featured at the regular VFW Saturday Night Dance on August 9. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Dancing will be from 8 p.m. until 12 Midnight. Concessions will be available. For more information call (662) 473-4456.

VFW Bingo Action Set For Friday Night

  Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, on Friday night, August 9, beginning at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years old to play.

Benefit Scheduled For Pat Jenkins

  There will be a benefit held for Pat Jenkins, a cancer patient, on Saturday, August 9, beginning at 5 p.m., at Lafayette County Fire Station #3 on CR 369. Take Highway 7 toward Oxford, turn right beside Mary’s Grocery and the fire station will be on the right. There will be fish plates and chicken strip plates, as well as entertainment and an auction.

Democratic Party Plans Workshop

  The state Democratic Party is conducting a breakfast workshop on Saturday morning, August 9, at Dunn’s Family Steakhouse on North Main Street from 8 – 9:30 a.m. Breakfast is on your own and starts at 7:30 a.m.

  Mrs. Rita Royal is the presenter and she will focus on how the Democratic Party can be successful at the local level. The workshop is open to the public. Everyone and all ages are encouraged to attend. For further information, you may call (662) 473-1159.

MSU-ES Yalobusha County Holds Interactive Video Childcare Trainings

The Yalobusha County Extension Service will open its site for the next Childcare Distance Trainings.  The first training will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 6:15 pm until 8:15 pm.  The topic of this training is “Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers: Working with Families.”

The next training session will be held Tuesday, August 12, from 6:15 until 8:15 p.m.  The topic of this training is “The Learning Environment – Infants.”  These trainings are free services and will each provide two contact hours for childcare providers.  Please contact our office at 675-2730 if you plan to attend.
