Friday, August 15

    An area-wide workshop/rehearsal will be held at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on August 15th at 6:45 p.m.  All are welcome to participate in the anointed preparation and praise.

Saturday, August 16

    Everdale Baptist Church is sponsoring a benefit program for Sis. Y. C. Rockette, who has been diagnosed with cancer. Sis. Rockette is a faithful member of Everdale Baptist Church and is a very supportive member in the community, always willing to help anyone.

    The program will be August 16, beginning at 6 pm., and will be sponsored by the Missionary Society. “We are asking each and everyone to come out and support us in our effort to help her both spiritually and financially,” stated Rev. Phillip Brackett, pastor, the  Missionary Society, and the church family.

Sunday, August 17

    Sanders Chapel M. B. Church will have their Men and Women Day Program Sunday, August 17, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Minister Bobby Hall will bring the word on this day. “Come and be blessed as you come and help us lift up the name of Jesus,” reports Pastor Mitchell Steen and the Sanders Chapel Church Family.

August 20-22

    The Oliver Grove Church family invites you to come and share in their revival services to be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly August 20 – 22. Rev. Walter Newson of Mt. Gillian and Askew Grove Churches will be guest speaker for the week.

    “Please come and join us for these services,” invites Rev. Albert Willie, Jr., pastor. Oliver Grove is located off Highway 32 West in Oakland, across from Oakland One Stop.

Saturday, August 23

Members of Chapel Hill Church will be selling Fish and Barbecue Plates Saturday, August 23 at the Miles Building Downtown. Plates will be available between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Sunday, August 24

    The youth department at Everdale Missionary Baptist Church will have a youth fellowship program on Sunday, August 24, at 3 p.m.  Deacon Lenair Person and Pine Grove youth choir will be special guest.  Come out and be blessed.  Rev. Phillip Brackett serves as pastor, Sister Tracie Lee is youth director, and Sister Sandra Woodard is church clerk.

    New Providence M.B. Church, located on the Pope/Water Valley Road, will celebrate its 43rd church anniversary Sunday, August 24, beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Larry Cozart, pastor of St. Phillip M.B. Church of Sledge. Rev. Sidney Townes serves as pastor of the church and Sis. Mary Egerson and Sis. Lena Pegues are sponsors. They, along with all church members, invite everyone to attend this special service.

August 21 – 23

    Annual revival services will be held at Jumpers Chapel Congregational Methodist Church Thursday through Saturday, August 21, 22, and 23. Brother Bobby Jones, Associate Pastor of Jumpers Chapel, will bring the message for each service. There will be special music, as well as congregational singing, each evening.

    On Sunday, August 24, homecoming services will be held at 11 a.m. A meal will be served in the fellowship hall immediately following homecoming activities. In addition, the annual meeting of interested individuals of the Jumpers Chapel CMC Cemetery will be held at 1:15 p.m.

September 1 – 4

    Everdale Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual fall revival services Monday, September 1, through Thursday, September 4, beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Marcus Dudley, pastor of Moorse Chapel AME Church in Coffeeville will be the guest evangelist. “Please come out and help us lift up the name of our Lord and Savior,” says Rev. Phillip Brackett, pastor. Sister Sandra Woodard is clerk of the church and Everdale is located at 410 Calhoun Street in Water Valley.

  Shiloh Baptist Church at Big Creek extends an invitation for all children to come and join their Children’s Choir. Whether your child is a singer or instrumentalist they are offering the opportunity for spiritual, musical growth. Sheryl Fleming, a resident of Calhoun County, will be the Choir Director. She brings years of vocal experience and love for music to share with the children and youth. The church will begin their Christmas play/musical soon.
