    It’s time for the annual Halloween Party at the Sylva Rena Community Center. The event is scheduled on Saturday, October 25, beginning at 6 p.m. A variety of refreshments will be available at the concession stand.

    There will be a costume contest for children and adults. Come join the fun, which will include cake walks, bingo, and games for all ages. The raffle will be for a $100 gift certificate to WalMart.

    “Please come and support this worthy cause. All proceeds will go towards expenses to operate the community center. Your donations and support will be greatly appreciated,” stated Milton Hix.

Sunday, Oct. 26

    Harvest Day will be celebrated at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on October 26, beginning at 8:45 a.m., which is regular service time. Harvest is not only for food, but also for souls, said a church spokesperson. Elder Lee V. Matthews, Sr. and the Hopewell family invite everyone to come and worship during this special program.

    Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, located at 985 CR 169, Coffeeville, will celebrate Harvest Day October 26 at the regular 8:45 a.m. service. “Everyone is invited to worship with us during this special service.     Members of Pleasant Grove Church will have an appreciation celebration for Pastor and Mrs. Steen on Sunday, October 26.“As we prepare to honor our pastor and his wife for their service to our congregation, we would like to request the honor of your presence as our guests,” said a church spokesman.

    The morning begins with Sunday School at 10 a.m., and continues with Pastor John Keeler and Oak Grove as guests during morning worship at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow, and the day will climax at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Brackett and Everdale Missionary Baptist Church as the afternoon guests.

    Chapel Hill M.B. Church, located in Water Valley, is sponsoring a benefit program for Micheal Booker on Sunday, November 2, beginning at 3 p.m. Micheal travels to dialysis treatments three times a week. “We want to encourage and help him and each token given will offset some of his expenses,” stated Pastor Eric Nelson. The guest speaker for this program will be Rev. Jerome Battle from Batesville.

    Brusher Fork M.B. Church will have its Pastor and Wife Appreciation Day on November 2, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Rev. B. B. Brooks, pastor, has been serving this church for 30 years. The church is located on Carpenter Road at Grenada. Pastor George Forest and the Rocky Mount M. B. Church family of Water Valley will be special guests. “Everyone is invited to attend this special program,” stated Secretary Virginia Norton.
