Shiloh Baptist Church Will Host Halloween Carnival
Shiloh Baptist Church at Big Creek will host a community wide Trunk-R-Treat Carnival Wednesday, October 29, beginning at 6 p.m. This halloween carnival is free and has been popular the last few years by providing a safe place for children to enjoy a night of fun. Infants thru youth are invited to participate in this exciting event. Organizers will provide kid-friendly carnival games, food, candy, various booths and the Martin’s Extreme Jumpers.
Homemaker Volunteers Announce Plans For Holiday Bazaar
The Yalobusha County Chapter of the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers will sponsor a Holiday Bazaar on the first of November at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building on Highway 7 in Coffeeville. The Bazaar will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 3 p.m.
Admission is free. Organizers will have many vendors offering different crafts and holiday gifts. Food will also be available. Come on out and get your holiday shopping done early. Harvest Day Program Scheduled For Nov. 16 At Union Hill Church
The Union Hill Church will have their Harvest Day Program November 16, beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. Harold Johnson of St. John Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. He will be accompanied with by his church family. The Isom Chapel Male Chorus will be the guest choir. “Everyone is invited to attend this special service. Come out and be blessed,” stated Dr. James Johnson, pastor. Sis. Florine Holmes is the program sponsor.
Davidson School Hosts Fall Festival
Davidson Elementary School is holding its annual fall festival fundraiser on October 31.
“Even if you do not have a child currently attending the elementary school, we would like to invite you to make plans to come support this fun event,” reported Principal Chester Drewery. Anyone who would like to make donations can contact the school at 473-1110.
Pine Valley Fire Department Schedules Annual Haunted Hollow
Pine Valley Fire Department will have its annual Haunted Hollow Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for sale each night.
WYCAA Announces Fall Garage Sale At Old Oakland School
The W.Y.C.A.A. will have its fall garage sale Saturday, November 1, from 7 a.m. to noon in the old Oakland School, located on Highway 51. Vendors are needed and welcomed. Booth spaces are available. “One Man’s Junk is Another Man’s Treasurer, so bring it all to the Fall Garage Sale,” invites Pauline Smith and Lizzie Earl. JA Offer Chances On Freezer Of Food
The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a seven cubic foot freezer full of food. The tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and the drawing will take place on November 17, the week of Thanksgiving. Oxford VFW Sponsors Gospel Karaoke
A gospel music karaoke program will be held Sunday, November 2, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in the Veterans Building, 125 Veterans Drive (across from the State Veterans Home), Oxford. The event is sponsored by Oxford V.F.W. Post 3978, and all donations will be used for veterans assistance.

Lions Club Offers Flapjack Breakfast On Saturday Morning
Members of the Water Valley Lions Club will serve their regular First Saturday pancake breakfast on November 1 in the Depot Building on Main Street. For only $5 per plate, you may enjoy all the pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee, you desire. Serving hours are 6:30 to 9 a.m. “Come out for a delicious breakfast, plus some great fellowship,” invites Lion Ernie Aune.
Also offered are regular blocks of cheese at breakfast, or you may place orders for Christmas cheese gift packages beginning November 16 from any Lion member. All net proceeds from the pancake breakfast and from the sale of cheese is used for the many charitable projects of the Lions Club.
VFW Plans Friday Bingo Action
Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Home on Friday, October 31, beginning at 7 p.m. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. You must be at least 18 years old to play.
Roadhouse Will Perform At VFW
The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance features live music. On November 1 the featured band will be “RoadHouse”. Dancing begins at 8 p.m. and continues until Midnight in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concesson stand will be available.
