Mississippi Farm Bureau delegates will gather in Jackson for their 87th annual convention, on December 6-8, with an agenda to set policy for the state’s largest farm organization. Famous Elvis Impersonator Will Appear At Saturday Night VFW Dance
The regular VFW Saturday night dance will feature the Greenstreet Band on November 29. Special guest and former national champion Elvis impersonator Ricky Mabry will be a highlight of the evening Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight. The dance is held in VFW Post 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession stand with beer and other beverages will be available.
Lions Club Takes Orders For Cheese
The Water Valley Lions Club is now taking orders for its Christmas cheese. There are a variety of gift boxes available, as well as the blocks that the club sells year around.
Order forms may be picked up at the Herald, Turnage’s, and the Chamber of Commerce Office, as well as from any Lions Club member. The Lions should be able to deliver the cheese orders sometime during the following week. Proceeds from this cheese sale will be used to fund Lions’ projects including glasses, eye surgery, screenings, hearing, diabetes awareness, as well as the many community projects. Jeff Davis School Announces Reunion
The Jeff Davis School Christmas Reunion will be held December 6, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Masonic Lodge on Champion Circle. All students, family, and friends are invited. Everyone attending should bring a covered dish.
Chamber Will Sponsor Christmas Lighting Contest
The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Christmas Lighting Contest again this year. Residential and business entries will compose the categories.
Prizes for the winners will be: first place, $100; second place, $75; and third place, $50. Winners will be selected in each category.

Judging will be on the weekend of December 13 and 14. Be sure to have your lights on until 9 p.m. on these days.
Water Valley’s Christmas Parade Will Roll Down Main On Dec. 6
The 2008 Water Valley Christmas Parade date has been set for Saturday, December 6, beginning at one o’clock in the afternoon. A rain date for the parade will be the following Saturday, December 13.

Mega Booster 2008 Features Popular Musicians At Clarksdale Church
“Mega Booster 2008,” featuring The Stewart Family, The Morris Project, Pastor Andrew Williams and New Beginning, Jonestown Crusaders, Chris Dixon and Joyful Noice and many more, will be at the Greater Seek-well Missionary Baptist Church, Saturday night, November 29, beginning at 6 p.m.
The church is located at 1408 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Clarksdale. Johnny Kinard of KJIW Radio Station will be the MC for this program.
