Bingo Action Scheduled At VFW On Friday Night
Bingo will be played at the Home of VFW Post 4100 Friday, December 19, beginning at 7 p.m. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Road House To Play At VFW Dance This Saturday Night
The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance will feature “RoadHouse” a hot new country band, on December 20. Dancing will be from 8 p.m. until midnight in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession will be available.
VFW Hosts Monthly Meeting
VFW Post 4100 and its Women’s Auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, December 18. All members are urged to attend.
Historical Society Features Former Professional Singer At Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 18, in its headquarters in the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a program of Christmas music and fellowship. Former professional singer, Jackie Weibley, of Grenada, will share her wonderful voice with the group. She will be accompanied by former professional musician, Morris “Sonny” Hubbard, also of Grenada.
Corps Take Bids For Timber
If you are interested in purchasing timber at Enid Lake. the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open bids at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Corps’ Vicksburg District Office for Invitation No. DACW38-9-09-30. The timber at Enid Lake is in one sale area, all in Yalobusha County.

Marathon Blood Drive Scheduled, ‘09 Toyota Corolla LE To Be Given Away
United Blood Services will hold a 24-hour marathon drive from 11 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the main center, 4326 Eason Blvd., in Tupelo.
UBS is this area’s non-profit blood provider since 1972 and serves the patients in North Mississippi and Northwest Alabama.
Only a few days left to register for the 2009 Toyota Corolla LE. Donations need to be made by December 31.

Benefit Raffle Set For December 20 At Sylva Rena Community Center
The Sylva Rena Community Center will host a benefit raffle to help Tim Tucker, who has a brain tumor and is not able to work. There will be three drawings for three $100 cash prizes on December 20 at 7 p.m. The drawing will be held at the center.
“We will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries, beginning at 4 p.m. We also will be playing rook and bingo. Tickets are on sale at Valley Lumber, Valley Agri-Supply, Sylva Rena Grocery, and other places around the Boat Landing,” states Milton Hix and John Wood.
Town And Country Garden Club Entertained Spouses And Guests At Gala Christmas Party
Members of the Town and Country Garden Club entertained their husbands and other guests at a gala Christmas party, held in Yalobusha Country Club, for their December meeting on Friday, December 5.
Hostesses Teresia Edgar, Pat Ray, Julia Thompson, Loy McMinn, Dr. Dee Milicevic, and Dale Tyler created a winter wonderland in white and silver on the banquet tables. A festive holiday spirit was created by Sara Nell Champion who played secular Christmas music on the synthesizer keyboard. Everyone sang “Silent night” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to end the convivial evening.
