Deer Season Now Hitting Full Stride

JACKSON – Favorable weather conditions and the onset of the rut give Mississippi‚s deer hunters two more reasons to be excited. With the season just past the halfway mark, the next couple weeks should have hunters excited about being in the woods.

“We seeing an increase in deer movement statewide,” MDWFP Deer Program Coordinator Chad Dacus said. “The cooler weather and the rut should have the bucks on the move.”

Resident and non-resident hunters need to make sure their license is current. If you plan on hunting one of the state’s Wildlife Management Areas then you’ll also need at WMA Permit. Licenses may be purchased for a license agent, online at www.mdwfp.com or by calling 1-800-5-GO-HUNT.
