Corps Take Bids For Timber
If you are interested in purchasing timber at Enid Lake. the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open bids at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Corps’ Vicksburg District Office for Invitation No. DACW38-9-09-30. The timber at Enid Lake is in one sale area, all in Yalobusha County.

Saxton Band Will Perform At VFW’s Saturday Night Dance
The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance will feature the Danny Saxton Band on December 27. Dancing will be from 8 p.m. until Midnight in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession will be available.
MDWFP Officers Focusing On Hunting License Checks
Mississippi Depart-ment of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks conservation officers will be working the holiday season in an effort to check for valid hunting licenses.
Law Enforcement Chief Col. Steve Adcock said people need to make sure they have a valid license when they are out in the woods.
“We’re pooling our resources and our officers will be checking residents and non-residents alike to make sure they are hunting with a valid license,” Adcock said.
People who do not have a valid license can purchase one from any license agent, online at www.mdwfp.com or by calling 1-800-5-GOHUNT.
VFW Will Not Have Bingo On Friday
Bingo will not be played Friday night, December 26, at the VFW Post Home. Here’s hoping everyone enjoys some happy holidays.
