VFW Announces Monthly Meeting
Members of VFW Post 4100 and its Auxiliary will have their regular monthly meeting on the third Thursday, January 15, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are urged to be present.
Learn About Legendary Tunnels Under Grenada At Historical Society Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p. m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Mark Fielder, Commander of Expedition and Operations, Inc., will speak on “The Tunnel Project.”
He will tell of his search for the legendary tunnels running beneath the town of Grenada. This is a fascinating story, and everyone is invited to come out and hear Mark’s interesting report, said Betty Miller. For more information, call 226-6975.
No Plans To Close The VFW Post
VFW Post 4100 is not closing. “Rumors that the Post was closing are untrue,” states Quarter Master Ray Rhyne.
VFW Schedule District Meeting
VFW Post 4100 will host a District Meeting Sunday, January 18, with dinner to be served at 1 p.m.
Come Enjoy Bingo At The VFW
Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Post Home on Friday, January 16. Play will begin at 7 p.m. You must be 18 years old, or older, to play. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.
Roadhouse Will Entertain At VFW
The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance will feature the RoadHouse Band on January 17. Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession stand will be available.
Forage Program Offered At Multipurpose Building
There will be a forage program on January 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Dr. Rocky Lemus, MSU-ES Extension Forage Specialist, will present the program on summer forage and establishment of new forage crops. This program is free and open to the public. Beef cattle and hay producers are especially encouraged to attend.
Yalobusha Homemakers Host Program For Travel
Do you want to travel? The Yalobusha County Homemaker’s Council will host a “travel program” by Renesant Bank at 10 a.m. on January 20 at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Renesant Bank travel guides will discuss the upcoming trips they have scheduled for 2009. This program is free and open to the public. Extension Service Offers Childcare Distance Trainings
The Yalobusha County Extension Service will open its site for several Childcare Distance Trainings, scheduled in January. The first one will be held this Saturday, January 17, from 8 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. This training is a free service and provides six contact hours for childcare providers. City Offices Will Close Monday
All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, January 19, 2009 for Martin Luther King holiday.
Monday’s garbage route will run with Tuesday’s garbage route.
