Servsafe Food Certification Class Scheduled To Begin In March

ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught March 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  The certification exam will start at 9 a.m. on March 20.  The class will be held at the Yalobusha County Extension Service in Coffeeville.  The cost of the course is $125 and the deadline to register is March 4.

The class is limited to 20 people.  Call the Yalobusha County Extension Service at (662) 675-2730 for additional details and to register.  When calling to sign up, please inform the office of any disabilities that might interfere with your opportunity to participate in this program.  The MSU Extension Service provides educational opportunities to the public on an equal opportunity basis and will make every reasonable effort to accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Water Valley Class of 1989 Plans 20-Year Reunion Planning Meeting

    The Water Valley High School Class of 1989 will hold their 20 year reunion planning meeting Saturday, March 7, beginning at 5 p.m., in the Central Office Building, located at Water Valley High School. All ‘89 graduates are asked to attend this meeting. Magnolia Youth League Hosts Sign Up For Softball-Baseball

  Youth, ages 3-15, will be signing up for the Magnolia Youth League softball-baseball program. Sign-Up dates will be February 21, 28, and March 7, from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Prices are $45 for the first child, $40 for the second child, and $35 for all remaining children in a family. “If you are interested in playing, come sign-up,” states Jeff Bynum and Darnell Vaughn. Free Trees Offered Next Wednesday

    The Yalobusha County Soil & Water Conservation District will provide seedlings to the public at no cost. Trees will be given out on first come first serve basis. The seedlings will be given away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, beginning at 9 a.m. at the USDA Service Center on Front Street in Coffeeville.

    Sawtooth Oak, Cherrybark Oak, Nuttall Oak and Persimmon  seedlings will be available. Seedlings are bare root and will  need to be kept moist and cool until planting. Seedlings should be planted within the next couple days after they are picked up.  

Genealogy Tidbits Offered At Historical Society Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p. m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Sarah Margaret Hallum, a very capable genealogist and historian, will speak on “Genealogy Tidbits.” The public is invited to attend all meetings. For more information contact Betty R. VFW Plans Bingo Action   

    Bingo will be played in VFW Post 4100’s Home on Friday night, February 13, beginning at 7 p.m. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

City Announces Holiday Closings

    All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, for President’s Day. Monday’s garbage route will run with Tuesday’s garbage route. The commercial route will run run on Monday.

VFW Schedules Saturday Night Dance

    The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance will feature the Greenstreet Band on February 14. Dancing will be from 8 p.m.-12 Midnight in VFW Post 4100’s Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. A concession will be available.
