VFW Plans Friday Bingo Action
VFW Bingo will pe played Friday night, March 20. Come join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will be played at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Diabetic Wellness Team Schedules Noon Meeting
The Water Valley Diabetic Wellness Team will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 25, at noon in the Edgar Community Center Building in Rolling Hills. Leroy Beddingfield from Clinton, a nutrition consultant with Living Well, Healthy Cooking, will be the speaker for this meeting. The public is invited to attend.
Come Shake A Leg At The VFW
Saturday night, March 21, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by the Road House Band. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us in listening or dancing to country music at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” states Vice Commander David Rhines.
Helping Hands Celebrates Six Years
The Helping Hands Organization will have its sixth year anniversary singing program on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 6 pm. in the Masonic Hall in Oakland. “We are asking that everyone in and around the community come and be a part of this occasion,” stated Bro. Willie Coffey, President of Helping Hands.
Coffeeville Native Will Speak On War Experiences At Historical Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet in the Presbyterian Church at 2 p. m. on Thursday, March 19 in Coffeeville. The speaker will be Robert Owen “Red” Riddick, a Coffeeville ‘hometown boy,’ now of Batesville and Birmingham. He will speak on his World War II experiences. The public is invited to all meetings
Youth League Hosts Fundraiser
The Magnolia Youth League will host a fundraising tennis tournament on Saturday, April 4. The tournament will be for men’s and women’s doubles. The cost to enter will be $50 per team. Anyone interested in signing up can contact Jeff Bynum at 473-3269 or Lance Clement at 473-2582.
Cossar Organizers Plan Egg Hunt
Friends of Cossar will sponsor their annual Easter egg hunt on April 11, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a coloring contest, where first, second, and third place prizes will be awarded. Businesses where art to be colored may be picked up are North Mississippi Herald, Turnage Drug Store, Cossar State Park, and BankCorp in Oakland.
Tillatoba Fire Department Schedules Fish Fry Fundraiser
The Tillatoba Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish fry on April 4, starting at 4 p.m. Fish plates are $8 and are available for dine-in or carry out. All proceeds will go towards the building fund and the purchase of new equipment for the fire department.
VFW Schedules Monthly Meeting
Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4100 will have their regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 19, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend, your presence is needed, and we are seeking new members.
Homemakers Host Children’s Workshop
The Yalobusha County Homemakers will host a children’s workshop March 28, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the Multi-purpose Building at Coffeeville. There will be no age categories. Parents are invited to attend the Coffeeville Health Fair, which will be held at the same location and time, and bring your children to the children’s workshop, where a carving class will be taught.
Playhouse Announces Upcoming Production
Panola Playhouse proudly presents Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling. The play is directed by Harry Snelling of Batesville. The play will run two weekends with performances on March 27, 28, April 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m. and March 29 and April 5 at 2:30 p.m. Come and enjoy this southern dramatic experience with an all adult female cast.

Davidson High School Class Of 1970 Plan July 4 Reunion
Members of the Davidson High School graduating class of 1970 are joining together for their 39th year reunion. All classmates from first grade, or those who later joined the class, are urged to be present. “Let’s all get together for the first time in 39 years and have a great time on July 3 and 4,” says Carolyn Wright. Hospital’s Relay For Life Team Offer Jambalaya Plate
Jambalaya for Relay for Life will be sold at Yalobusha Hospital and Nursing Home Friday, March 20. The cost will be $7 per plate, which includes jambalaya, cornbread, a cookie, and tea. All proceeds from this event go to the American Cancer Society. A silent auction will also be be held in the parking lot. There will be over 35 items to bid on.
Participation Encouraged At Monthly Relay Team Meeting
The monthly meeting for the Yalobusha County Relay For Life will be March 24, at the Mechanics Bank Community Room. Committee members meet at 5:30 p.m., and the team captains will meet at 6 p.m. Organizers are asking for full participation as the big event is only 38 days away. The Relay For Life will be held April 24, at the Crawford Sports Complex.
Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Invites The Public To Pastor’s Anniversary Celebration
Pine Grove East Missionary Baptist Church cordially invites you to their Pastor’s (Rev. Johnnie Roland) and Wife (Mrs. Bernice Roland) 43rd Anniversary Celebration on April 3-5. Members of the church have planned several events to honor this great man and woman of God. On Friday, April 3, beginning at 7 p.m., the membership will host a banquet at the Mt. Moriah Association Building. Tickets are $5.
On Saturday, April 4, beginning at 6 p.m., there will be a Gospel Extravaganza at Pine Grove East. All choirs, groups, and soloists are welcome. The celebration will climax on Sunday, April 5, beginning at 11 a.m. The morning speaker will be Assistant Minister Ed Garrison from Byhalia, followed by Pastor Tommie Goodwin of Bridges Chapel at 2:30 p.m.
Lunch will be served following the morning service. “We look forward to your presence and solicit your prayers,” says the Pine Grove congregation. Pine Grove East is located at 113 CR 94.

The 27th Annual Watermelon Pageant will be held Saturday, March 28, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Entries must be turned in by 6 p.m. on March 24. No late entries will be accepted. Entries forms may be returned to the Family Hairloom, Hair Trendz, or mailed to Hope Stovall, Pageant Chairman, 209 North Main St., Water Valley, MS 38965.
