St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, March 26, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Please support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. We need your help and support during this coming year.
Cossar Park Officials Announce Easter Activities
Cossar State Park will hold its annual Easter Activities Saturday, April 11. There will be games for the children, an Easter egg hunt, and the Easter bunny, smokey bear, and woodsy owl will be there. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open. Activities will start at 10 a.m.
VFW Invites Public To Bingo
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, March 27. Come join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Come Shake A Leg At The VFW
Saturday night, March 28, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by the River Road Band. The band begins playing at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us in listening, or dancing, to country music at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” states Senior Vice Commander David Rhines.
Youth League Hosts Fundraiser
The Magnolia Youth League will host a fundraising tennis tournament on Saturday, April 4. The tournament will be for men’s and women’s doubles. The cost to enter will be $50 per team. Anyone interested in signing up can contact Jeff Bynum at 473-3269 or Lance Clement at 473-2582.
Tillatoba Fire Department Schedules Fish Fry Fundraiser
The Tillatoba Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish fry on April 4, starting at 4 p.m. Fish plates are $8 and are available for dine-in or carry out. All proceeds will go towards the building fund and the purchase of new equipment for the fire department.
Homemakers Host Children’s Workshop
The Yalobusha County Homemakers will host a children’s workshop March 28, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the Multi-purpose Building at Coffeeville. There will be no age categories. Parents are invited to attend the Coffeeville Health Fair, which will be held at the same location and time, and bring your children to the children’s workshop, where a carving class will be taught.
Sigma Alpha Schedule Poker Run
The Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropic Poker Run for motorcycles and bicycles is scheduled Saturday, April 4, with a rain date of April 18. The motorcycle starting point is Oxford Outdoors. The bicycle starting point is the Gertrude Castello W. Ford Center parking lot. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. at both places. The first bike out is at 11 a.m. and the last bike out is at 12:30 p.m.

This event is to raise money for Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. to promote the continuation of music education and appreciation throughout the community.
Chamber Banquet Set For April 9
The Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet will be held Thursday, April 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building at Water Valley High School. Speaker for the Banquet will be Congressman Travis Childers. “Reserve this date for a steak dinner and a relaxing evening,” stated Chamber of Commerce Manager Bonnie Cox. Tickets may be purchased from any Chamber of Commerce director or at the CofC Office. Price of tickets is $15 each.
Woodard Celebrates Birthday
Nora Woodard of Oakland will be celebrating her birthday by having a banquet on Saturday, March 28, at five o’clock in the afternoon. The celebration will be in the Davis Chapel Masonic Temple, located at 121 Cherry Street, Oakland, which is located off Highway 51 South. Quick Bites Offers Tomato Information
If you want to learn more about growing tomatoes, mark April 2nd on your calendar. There will be a Quick Bites program on growing tomatoes at noon at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy a fun and educational program.
4-H Announces Timed Horse Show At Multi-purpose Building
A timed event horse show will be this Friday night at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Training barrels will start at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 8 pm. As usual, the show is free and open to the public.
Junior Auxiliary Sponsors Egg Hunt
There will be an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4, at City Park on North Main Street sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley.
The event is for youngsters pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Prizes will be awarded to the boy and girl in each age group who finds the most eggs. Snacks will be served following the hunt.
Pine Grove Announces Activities
Pine Grove East MB Church invites the public to their pastor and wife’s 43rd anniversary celebration April 3-5. Events include a banquet on Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m., in Everdale’s Fellowship Building. Tickets are $5. On Sat., April 4, at 6 p.m., a gospel extravaganza will be held at Pine Grove. Activities culminate on Sun., April 5, at 11 a.m., with Assistant Minister Ed Garrison as speaker, followed by Pastor Tommie Goodwin of Bridges Chapel at the 2:30 p.m. service. Lunch will be served. The church is located at 113 CR 94.
