 Saturday, April 18

  Shiloh Baptist Church at Big Creek will celebrate music from the past and present. Rock of Ages 2009 will be  a Tribute Weekend and Community Hoedown, taking place on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

    Country legends, bluegrass, and southern gospel will be the highlight of entertainment. This will be an outdoor event, food will be available and admission is free. For directions call (662) 628-5949.

    The (WOW) Women of Worth Conference will be held at Spring Hill North Baptist Church Saturday, April 18, beginning at 12 Noon. “All ladies are invited to attend this program,” stated Sis. Terri Barnes, co-ordinator.

Sunday, April 19

  Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1140 CR 118, Water Valley, will have its youth day program Sunday, April 19, beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker for the evening service will be 12-year-old Minister T. K. Townsend of Water Valley. Also Gift’d Men from Batesville will be special guests. “All area and local youth, young and old, are invited to come together and help us celebrate this wonderful occasion,” stated Deacon Freeman.

Saturday, April 25

    Bethel Baptist Church will host a mission conference on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. until noon. Christian speaker and humorist, Sherry Hagerhjelm from Bossier City, Louisiana, will be the guest speaker. “Come, hear her humorous stories, tearful life lessons, marriage to motherhood, and becoming a Proverbs 31 woman,” invites Rev. James Edwards, pastor.

Sunday, April 26

    Spring Hill North M.B. Church, located at 600 Railroad Street in Water Valley, will have its Musicians Appreciation Day Sunday, April 26, beginning at 6 p.m. Church musicians are Bro. Regis Mister and Bro. Aspen Cannon. Musician Department chairpersons are Janet Woodard and Tammy Turner who extend a cordial invitation for everyone to attend this program.

Thursday, April 30

    Rev. Mickey Dalrymple, president of the Mississippi Baptist Convention and pastor of the great Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, will preach in a one night Evangelism/Revival event at First Baptist Church, Water Valley, Thursday, April 30, beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited, and urged, to attend.

    This event is sponsored by the Yalobusha Baptist Association.

Faith Christian Academy Releases Honor List

    With the completion of its third academic quarter, Faith Christian Academy (FCA) has announced the names of those students who have attained the “A” and “B” Honor Rolls for the third nine week period.

    Students earning the distinction of making “A” Honor Roll are: Christian Allen, Lindsey Allen, Samantha Allred, Christopher Hill, Jonathan Hill, Matthew Hill, Rebekah Hill, Timothy Hill, Grafton Muirhead, Briana Norwood, Brooke Norwood, Anthony Rogers.  Students making the “B” Honor Roll are Miriam Hill and Segan Prince.  Honor Roll students enjoyed a fascinating quarterly Honor Roll field trip to the newly opened Enid Lake Fish Hatchery and Museum.  The students also enjoyed going out to lunch in Batesville – just for fun!

    Faith Christian Academy is currently in its 13th year of ministry, serving the greater Water Valley and Oxford areas since 1979.   On May 25 the school will host its 13th Awards Program and Graduation Exercises in the auditorium of Faith Baptist Church.  On this occasion, Miss Rebekah Hill will receive her high school diploma.  Miss Hill is graduating with honors in the college preparatory course of studies.  

    Faith Christian Academy features individualized instruction, which is integrated with Biblical values in each subject area.  FCA has been recognized by the Mississippi Association of Christian Schools (MACS) for high academic standards and ranks in the top one-third on the annual Stanford Achievement test.  Parents interested in obtaining enrollment information or viewing FCA’s twenty minute introductory video are invited to call the church-school office at 662-473-1661.
