Boys, Girls Track Teams Finish Second In Region

The Water Valley Blue Devils Track Team finished second, with 184 points, in the Region Meet at Coldwater on Saturday, behind J. Z. George, who garnered 235 points.

  First place finishers for Water Valley were: shot put, J. J. Woodard; 4×2 relay, D. C. Logan, Eric Buckley, Corey Carr, and Laquinton Horton; and 400-meter dash, Laquinton Horton.

  Taking second place were: high jump, A. J. Folson; 100-meter dash, Corey Carr; 200-meter dash, Corey Carr; 4×1 relay, D. C. Logan, Torrey Horton, Zentry Allen, and Eric Buckley; 4×4 relay, D. C. Logan, Tavis Toles, Keith Carr, and Laquinton Horton.

  Others who placed were: third place, discuss, Daimion Pollard; 110-meter hurdles, Cortellis Magee; pole vault, Cortellis Magee; 100-meter dash, D. C. Logan; 1600-meter run, Tevon Coleman; 800-meter run, Tevon Coleman; 200-meter dash, Laquinton Horton; Triple Jump, Benny Weekly; and 300-meter hurdle, Tavis Toles; Fourth Place, 110-meter hurdle, Drew Magee.

  Fourteen members of the team qualified for the North State Meet in 15 events. North Half competition will be held next week in Coldwater.

Lady Devils

  The Water Valley Lady Devils finished in second place, with 85 points, behind J. Z. George, with 246 points.

  Lady Devils placing were: First Place, Shot Put, V. V. Woodard;  Second Place, 4×200-meter relay, Erika Rice, Nakresha Folson, Audrianna Wise, and Ashley Phillips; Third Place, 100-meter hurdle, V. V. Woodard; 4×100-meter relay, Erika Rice, Nakresha Folson, Audrianna Wise, and Ashley Phillips; 100-meter dash, Ashley Phillips; 300-meter hurdle, Erika Rice; Fourth Place, discuss throw, V. V. Woodard; shot put, Lakisha Holmes; 100-meter hurdle, Erika Rice; and 200-meter dash, Audrianna Wise.

  Six Lady Devils qualified for the North State Meet in eight events. This meet will be held next Saturday at Coldwater.
