May 13 – 15
Oak Grove C.M.E. Church will have spring revival services May 13-15, beginning at 7 p.m. each night. The speaker will be Pastor Gwendoly Nelson of Royston Chapel C.M.E. Church, located in Potts Camp.
“The members of Oak Grove and I invite everyone to attend these special services,” stated Pastor Michael Stephen.
Saturday, May 16
Mt. Liberty Church, located at 603 CR 284, Water Valley, will have its annual cemetery decorating day Saturday, May 16. Bring a dish and meet us at 10 a.m. The next day, Sunday, May 17, Bro. Clyde Meeks from Guntown will preach a trial sermon at 11 a.m.
Sunday, May 17
The District Usher Federation Meeting and annual luncheon will be held at Mt. Grove M.B. Church May 17, beginning at 3 p.m. The church is located on Highway 7, south of Coffeeville. Minister T. K. Townsend will bring the message.
“This will be our Youth Usher Day and we are asking all churches to bring their youth ushers. Everyone is invited to attend. All ushers are asked to attend,” stated Willie Baker, president. Lunch will be served after the service.
Sunday, May 24
Everdale M.B. Church will have a praise dance group program on Sunday, May 24, beginning at 3 p.m. All praise teams are invited to perform an A and B selection. Everdale is located at 410 Calhoun Street in Water Valley. Rev. Phillip Brackett, Everdale’s pastor, says “Please come out and praise our Lord in dance.”
Sunday, May 31
Sylva Rena Baptist Church will have its homecoming on May 31. Services will begin at 10 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon in the Family Activity Center. Rev. Donnie Stewart will be the main speaker. The Pontotoc group, Fishers of Men, will sing afterwards, beginning at 1 p.m. There will be no Sunday School or evening services on this day. Everyone is invited to attend.

Sanders Chapel Women’s Ministry, the pastor and members cordially invite the public to attend their “Saints On A Mission Program” on the fifth Sunday, May 31, beginning at 2:30 p.m. All women are asked to wear white as part of the theme. Pastor Mitchell Steen will give the message. Program sponsors are Minister Geraldine Booker and Lanell Steen.

Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its homecoming on May 31, beginning at 2:30 p.m. All past and present members and ministers, families and friends, are urged to come together for this homecoming program. The church is located at 1140 CR 118, Water Valley. “Come out and help us celebrate this great occasion. We want this reunion to be the biggest and best ever,” stated Josie Drane.
Sunday, June 7
Homecoming 2009 will be held Sunday, June 7, at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at Big Creek, beginning at 10:30 a.m. An invitation is extended to everyone to come and share in worship, prayer, thanksgiving and special singing during this service.
“Those attending will enjoy bits of history, looking back during a time of remembrance and honor of those around us. As we listen to stories that are gladly shared we always enjoy the home-cooked food everyone brings and we have lots of it,” says Barbara Hearn. Lunch will be served at noon.
