Donations Needed For Cemetery Upkeep

  Members at Spring Hill North M.B. Church are again asking for donations for the upkeep and lawn services for the cemetery. “We are asking all families and members to help do your part in contributing to this annual requirement,” stated Roland Hoskins.

    Anyone interested  in contributing is asked to make checks, money orders, etc. payable to Spring Hill North M.B. Church, and send them to Spring Hill North Cemetery Fund, c/o Roland Hoskins, 331 Suggs St., Water Valley, MS 38965.


United Blood Services Plan Blood Drive In BorgWarner Parking Lot  

    The Bloodmobile from United Blood Services will be in the parking lot at BorgWarner on Tuesday, June 2, from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.    

    UBS is this area’s non-profit community blood provider serving patients in Mississippi and West Alabama.  It takes over 250 blood donations every day to meet the needs of area patients.

    Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height and weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian.


Grenada Ministry Schedules Photo Shoot To Raise Funds

    On Friday, May 29, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Olan Mills will come to Way of Life Ministries in Grenada to take portraits.  The cost is $10 per certificate.  The certificate entitles you to a family 10×13 portrait or a “Just for Kids” package for ages 16 and under. Bethel Baptist Church Announces Plans For Vacation Bible School

    Bethel Baptist Church invites all children, ages four years through young people who have completed sixth grade, to go to the edge this summer for vacation Bible school. CAMP E.D.G.E.: Experience+Discover God. Everywhere is an extreme adventure camp taking kids on exciting Bible treks to experience and discover God everywhere, everyday.  

    The fun begins June 1 and ends June 5. The program will be from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Each trek is supported with science activities, songs, crafts, games, and snacks. Please call Katherine Jones at 473-4391 with any questions.


Rodrigue Offers Kids’ Horse Drawing Class on May 28   

    Local artist, Pat Rodrigue, will teach a kids’ horse drawing class on Thursday, May 28, at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. Classes for students ages 7-11 will be from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m., and ages 12 – 18 will be from 11 a.m. 12:30 p.m.  There is no fee and all materials will be provided.  If you have any questions, please call the Extension office at 675-2730.


Shaw Celebrates 101st Birthday   

    Mattie Shaw will celebrate a “century plus one” this Saturday, May 30, in the activities room of the Yalobusha General Hospital Nursing Home. Everyone is invited to come join the celebration from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Mrs. Shaw was born on May 27, 1908, and grew up on Turkey Creek Road near Coffeeville.


Masons Schedule Thursday Meeting   

  St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, May 28, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Please support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. The Commandry needs your help and support during this coming year.


Wrestling Match Benefits Davis Family   

    A benefit wrestling event will be held Saturday, May 30, at Goolsby Mobile Homes in Batesville. Bell time will be 7:30 p.m. with concessions available starting at 6 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Mike and Stephanie Davis family, according to promoters. VFW Schedules Friday Bingo Action

    VFW bingo will be played Friday night, May 29. “Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” says Commander Sam Phillips. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games will begin at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.


VFW Offers Musical Entertainment  

  Saturday night, May 30, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by Rolling Thunder. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us for listening or dancing to country music at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.  Learn How To Dig Up Genealogical Roots

    Next week on Thursday, June 4, there will be a Quick Bites program at noon at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. This program is entitled Digging Up Roots with Mariah Smith.  In this one-hour session, participants will discover their genealogical roots.  Participants will examine various online computer resources that are available to them while doing online genealogical research.  If you are interested in this program, please join us.


Horse Show Scheduled June 5  

  The next horse show at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building will be next Friday night, June 5.  This will be a timed event show with the training barrels starting at 6:30 p.m. and the actual show starting at 8 p.m.  As usual, these shows are free and open to the public.
