Cummings Celebrates Three Decades Of Service
By Steve Cummings
It slipped my mind last week when writing this column, but it was 29 years ago on May 19th when I came to work as the 4-H Agent in Yalobusha County.
It is hard to believe it has been 29 years. As they say, time flies when you are having fun, and for the most part, this job has been fun. I can’t think of anywhere else I would have rather spent these years other than Yalobusha County. Most people in Extension move around some. I have had a few opportunities to move, but when you start in the best place, why move?
On Thursday, May 28th, local artist, Pat Rodrigue, will have a class on how to draw horses at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building at 8:30 a.m. This is for all youth interested in art and horses. Please call the Extension office at 675-2730 for further details.
The Annual Wildflower Tour at the Jamie L. Whitten Center near Coffeeville will be June 17, 2009. There will be wagon tours of wildflower fields and native grasses held throughout the day starting at 8:30 a.m.
In addition, there will be presentations on backyard wildlife habitats, pollinators, decorating with wildflowers, green gardening tips for flowers and vegetables, and wildflowers in the landscape.
You can also bring a plant and trade for another one at our Plant Swap, and Mississippi Native Wildflower seeds will be available for purchase.
Admission will be $3 per person, and lunch will be served to those who call 601-354-7645 or the Yalobusha County Extension Service at 662-675-2730 by June 12th.
Congratulations to Yalobusha County 4-H shooting sports competitors. It takes a long time to get the results of this contest due to the large number of participants.
