Donations Needed For Cemetery Upkeep
Members at Spring Hill North M.B. Church are again asking for donations for the upkeep and lawn services for the cemetery. “We are asking all families and members to help do your part in contributing to this annual requirement,” stated Roland Hoskins.
Anyone interested in contributing is asked to make checks, money orders, etc. payable to Spring Hill North M.B. Church, and send them to Spring Hill North Cemetery Fund, c/o Roland Hoskins, 331 Suggs St., Water Valley, MS 38965.
Learn How To Dig Up Genealogical Roots
On Thursday, June 4, there will be a Quick Bites program at noon at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building. This program is entitled Digging Up Roots with Mariah Smith. In this one-hour session, participants will discover their genealogical roots. Participants will examine various online computer resources that are available to them while doing online genealogical research. If you are interested in this program, please join us.
Horse Show Scheduled June 5
The next horse show at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building will be Friday night, June 5. This will be a timed event show with the training barrels starting at 6:30 p.m. and the actual show starting at 8 p.m. As usual, these shows are free and open to the public.
Story Teller/Writer/Artist Is Guest Speaker At Historical Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Guest speaker will be Katrina Estes Hill, of Louisville. Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 9, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Lions Raffle Flat Screen Television
The Water Valley Lions Club will have a raffle for a flat screen Vizio 32” LCD HDTV. The TV will be given away during the noon ceremonies at the Gazebo on Carnival Day Saturday, August 1. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member. They are $1 each or 6 for $5.
Star Nite Talent Show Benefits Folson’s Sports Organizations
The 27th Annual Star Nite Talent Show will be held Saturday, June 6, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime will be from 7:30-11:15 p.m.
Special groups will be P.Y.T., Brian, Crew, and many more. In addition to this the Lady’s Softball Team will model. There will be lots of local talent from Water Valley, Oxford, Batesville, Coffeeville, Bruce, and other surrounding areas. If you would like to be in the show call 473-2287, or just be there before 9 p.m.
The awards will include $150 Cash Prize to the overall winner and trophies. There will absolutely be no bad language of any kind allowed in this event. Star Nite is sponsored by Freddie Folson’s Sports Organizations.
VFW Announces Friday Bingo Action
VFW Bingo will be played Friday, June 5. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6 p.m., and the first of 24 games begins at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Southern Connection Band Will Entertain At VFW
Saturday night, June 6, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by the Southern Connection Band. Water Valley Class Of 1974 Announces Reunion Activities
The Water Valley High School Class of 1974 has planned their 35th class reunion for Saturday, August 1, during the Watermelon Carnival Weekend. A tent will be set up in the park from Friday, 6 p.m., through Saturday, 3 p.m., for the classmates to visit. There will be a meal with entertainment on Saturday night.
