Blue Devil Football Continues Busy Summer

The second year of Coach Brad Embry’s Football Program is seeing an extremely high participation rate in summer workouts and camp participation as they strive toward their 2009 football goals.

Team members currently work out twice a day. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with two-hour sessions.

The offensive and defensive linemen also have a practice session with Coach Faust and Coach Mix once a week.

Junior free safety Eric Buckley was invited to attend a one-day invitational Southern Mississippi camp held in Cleveland. Eric performed defensive back drills and clocked a personal best 4.70 in the 40-yard dash.

Senior punter Josh Johnson was invited to attend the Mississippi State University Punting camp. Josh showcased his talents and skills which earned him All-Region and Second Team All-State in 2008. He also learned practice techniques and how to improve his yardage and hang time from MSU’s special team coaches.

A group of 15 Blue Devils led by seniors Leo Daniels, D.C. Logan, Josh Johnson, and Zack Person traveled to Mississippi State University to compete in their one day 1A-3A passing camp. The Blue Devils, Coach Embry and Coach Russo, garnered five victories on the day.

Some of the highlights of the day were the victory over Birmingham, Alabama football power, Bessemer, and an extremely competitive loss to neighboring Charleston.
