VFW Announces Friday Bingo Action

    VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, August 14. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

 

Masonic Chapters Announce Thursday Meeting

    McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J. J. Melton Council No. 50 will hold their regular scheduled meetings at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle Thursday, August 13, 2009, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members of these two Masonic bodies are encouraged to attend. Your help and support is needed during this Masonic year.

 

Arts Council Auction Is All About Chairs

The Water Valley Arts Council invites artists and all those with a creative streak to participate in the inaugural Chair-ity Auction — a special evening that brings together the arts, businesses, and community for a live and silent auction that’s all about chairs! Homemakers Sponsor Cake Decorating Program

The Yalobusha County Homemakers will sponsor a cake decorating program on August 18 at 10 a.m. at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building.  Mrs. Rae Brooks will conduct the program.  This program is free and open to the public, so if you are interested in cake decorating, we would love for you to join us.

 

Wrestling Event Will Be Held At National Guard Amory

  Maximum Championship Wrestling will be held in the National Guard Amory at Water Valley, Saturday, August 15. The doors open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7 o’clock. Tickets are: adults, $10; children 6-12, $5; and children under 6, free.

 

Football Boosters Schedule August 17 Meeting

  The Football Booster Club will meet Monday, August 17, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Community Room of Mechanics Bank. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

Road House Band Performs At VFW On Saturday

  VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by the Road House Band Saturday night, August 15. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until Midnight. “Join us in listening, or dancing, to country music at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” stated Commander Sam Phillips. Magnolia Youth League Schedule Saturday Soccer Registration

    Magnolia Youth League Fall Soccer registration will begin Saturday, August 15 at the Crawford Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon. Girls and boys, ages 4 to 12, may participate. The cost to register is $45 for the first child, $40 for the second child, and $35 for each child after the second. Registration forms and coaching applications may also be picked up at Farm Bureau. Drug Awareness Is Topic At Saturday Program

    Along the Way Ministry will host a drug awareness program for the youth of Water Valley on Saturday, August 15, beginning at 10 a.m. The program will be held at 119 Main Street (the old NAPA Building). The program will be taught by Pastor Phillip Brackett of Everdale Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Brackett is affiliated with the Bruce School District Drug Awareness Program. He has been teaching drug awareness for several years and is qualified to teach our youth about the dangers of drug use. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

Arts Council Seeks Donations For Charity Auction

This Weeks Lunch Program Offers Information About  Weed Management

There is one more Quick Bite program scheduled at the Yalobusha County Extension Service in August. This program, held during the noon hour, is scheduled for August 13, Dr. Wayne Wells, MSU Turfgrass Specialist will offer information about controlling weeds in your lawn. Anyone interested is invited to bring a sack lunch and join the program at the county’s Multi-purpose Building in Coffeeville.

 

Final Horse Show Is Scheduled August 15

There is only one more horse show left before the season ends this Saturday, August 15.  This show is a judged and speed event horse show that will begin at 2 p.m.  As always, these shows are free and open to the public, so come out and enjoy the last show of the season.

 

Mt. Moriah Diabetes Wellness Team Invites Public To Session

    The Coffeeville Division of the Mt. Moriah Diabetes Wellness Team will meet on Tuesday, August 18, at 4 p.m. in the J. C. Hentz Fellowship Hall of the Mt. Moriah District Association Building, located on County Road 211 (Oakland Road). Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend this informative and enlightening session. Bertha Dudley is chairperson, Dorothy Kee, co-chairperson, Mamie H. Shields, county coordinator, and Rev. Amos Sims is moderator.
