Head Start Staff Invites Parents To Open House

  The staff at Water Valley Head Start would like to welcome all parents and children back to another year of fun and learning. They hope the new school year will offer the fun and knowledge expected for your child. On August 21, they will have open house from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Water Valley Head Start Center. Parents and children are welcome to come out and meet the staff.

    “If there are any questions, now is the time to seek the answers,” invites  Helen Willis. Children will return to school on August 24.  If you have questions, contact Mrs. Willis at 473-1552.

 

Night Classes Offered At Technology School

    The Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology will offer an adult night class during the Fall 2009 semester. The Class Title is Intro to Computers and it will be taught August 25-December 14, on Tuesday nights from 4-6 p.m. The fee for the class is $50. The school is located at 134 Highway 7 South, Oxford, phone (662) 9469, Fax (662) 236-2496.

 

Arts Council Auction Is All About Chairs

The Water Valley Arts Council invites artists and all those with a creative streak to participate in the inaugural Chair-ity Auction — a special evening that brings together the arts, businesses, and community for a live and silent auction that’s all about chairs! Class Of 1984 Schedules Reunion During Homecoming Weekend

The Water Valley High School Class of 1984 will celebrate its 25th reunion the weekend of September 25, which is Water Valley High School homecoming weekend.  All classmates and faculty are invited to get together Friday night for the football game and Saturday for the reunion. United Blood Services Announces Blood Drive In Coffeeville

United Blood Services will hold a blood drive in the Family Life Center of Coffeeville First Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

UBS is this area’s non-profit community blood provider serving patients in Mississippi and west Alabama.  It takes over 250 blood donations everyday to meet the needs of area patients.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

Additional  height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian.

 

Sav-A-Life Schedules Banquet At Oxford Church

    Sav-A-life Banquet will be held Tuesday, September 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Oxford. Guest speaker will be Gwen Smith. Gwen was raised in church, rebelled in college, and got pregnant. She denied her beliefs and aborted her baby. Now she shares about it with others in word and song. Tickets are $15. High School Annuals Available From 2008-2009

The 2008-09 annuals have arrived.  If you prepaid for an annual you may pick it up at the high school.  If you didn’t prepay and would like to purchase an annual, the cost will be $50 and it will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, according to Jo Ann King, annual sponsor.

 

Fall Soccer Registration Planned At Crawford Complex

    Fall soccer registration will be held this Saturday, August 22, at the Crawford Sports Complex from 9 a.m. until noon. Girls and boys, ages 4 to 12, may participate. The cost to register is $45 for the first child, $40 for the second child, and $35 for each child after the second.

  Registration forms and coaching applications may also be picked up at Farm Bureau. For more information, contact Jeff Bynum at 473-3269.

  This will be the last day to sign-up.

 

Farm Bureau Schedules Annual Business Meeting

The annual business meeting of the Yalobusha County Farm Bureau will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 8 a.m. All members are invited to attend
