Lions Announce Saturday Pancake Breakfast
The Water Valley Lions Club will have their first of the month Pancake Breakfast Saturday, September 5, from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Depot Building on Main Street. The Lions will be serving all you care to eat pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice for only $5 per plate. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious meal, some great fellowship, while helping with the many charitable projects of the Lions,” says Lion Ernie Aune.
Banner Lodge Announces Fish Fry
A fish fry will be held at Banner Lodge #329 on Saturday, September 5, between the hours of 5-8 p.m. The lodge will serve a catfish plate with all the trimmings, a drink and dessert for $8 . Pine Valley School Reunion Is Set For September 19
The Pine Valley School Homecoming will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 10 a.m. in the school building. Please come and bring a favorite dish for lunch, which will will be served at noon. Come out and see the work that has been done on the old school, invites Joni Camp, publicity chairman.
Garden Club Sponsors Scarecrow Trail At City Park
The Garden Club of Water Valley will sponsor a Scarecrow Trail at the City Park for October. The Club will have a workshop on September 26, beginning at 9 a.m.
Awards will be given for each category: Children; Individual; Business; and Organizations. More information will follow in next week’s edition.
Birthday Celebration Organized For Coffeeville
Coffeeville will celebrate its 175th birthday on October 3. Numerous events have been planned for the day. General Coffee’s Car, Truck, and Bike Show will be held beginning with registration from 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
A quilt show will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, food, inflatables, and entertainment during the day, along with a Crank It Up Contest.
The Coffeeville High School Classes of 1940-1970 will meet for a reunion from 3 to 6 p.m. The Yalobusha Historical Society will host an open house at their headquarters located in the old Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The day will culminate with a Street Dance beginning at 7 p.m. with music by The Krackerjacks.

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Hosts Monthly Seminar At Multipurpose Building
The monthly wildlife seminar will be held at the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building this coming Tuesday, September 8th, at 6:30 p.m. This months’ program will be Habitat Management for Private Landowner’s presented by Scott Edwards, Private Lands Biologist with Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks.
The program will include these topics: History of Land Management in Mississippi, Habitat Management Principles, Common Habitat Management Practices, Funds Available/Paying for Habitat Management.
All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
United Blood Services Coordinate Blood Drive At High School
United Blood Services (UBS) will be in the Multi Purpose Building Gym at Water Valley High School for a blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian. UBS is this area’s non-profit community blood provider serving patients in Mississippi and West Alabama.
Valley City Lodge Schedules Thursday Meeting
Valley City Lodge #402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication on Thursday, September 3, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The Communication will begin at 7:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend and support your Lodge.

Water Valley Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, September 8, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend.
Bingo Action Is Scheduled At The VFW
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, September 4. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6 and the first of 24 games will begin at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Road House Band Performs At Saturday Night Dance
VFW Post 4100 will have a musical night of entertainment by the Road House Band on Saturday, September 5. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. “Join us in listening or dancing to country music at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” stated Commander Sam Phillips. High School Annuals Available From 2008-2009 School Year
The 2008-09 annuals have arrived. If you prepaid for an annual, you may pick it up at the high school. If you didn’t prepay and would like to purchase an annual, the cost will be $50 and it will be on a first-come-first-served basis, according to Jo Ann King, annual sponsor.
Class Of 1984 Celebrates Reunion During Homecoming Weekend
The Water Valley High School Class of 1984 will celebrate its 25th reunion the weekend of September 25, which is Water Valley High School homecoming weekend.
