Blackmur Library Schedules Halloween Carnival
Blackmur Memorial Library, along with the Friends of the Library, will have a Halloween Carnival Saturday, October 31, from 9 a.m. until noon. There will be games, face painting, prizes and arts and crafts. Children of all ages are welcome to attend, but any child under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. VFW Makes Plans To Honor Veterans
VFW Post 4100, Water Valley, will hold a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street in Water Valley on November 11, beginning at 11 a.m. In the event weather does not permit the ceremony to be held at the Memorial, it will be held indoors at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Following the ceremony there will be a fish dinner at the Post Home. Served will be fish, hush-puppies, fries, cole slaw, tea and coffee. All members and guests are invited.
Weekly Rook Games Are Scheduled At Cossar State Park
Red One Rook will be played in the Cossar State Park Visitor Center, starting at 6 p.m. every Thursday night. Everyone is welcomed to play. Bring your partner and a deck of Rook cards.
Cossar Coordinates Halloween Activities
Cossar State Park will hold their annual Halloween activities Saturday, October 31. There will be games in the Visitor Center. Other events of the evening will be a cake walk and a haunted trail. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open. Activities will start at 7 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m.
Roll Up Your Sleeve During Blood Drive In Coffeeville
United Blood Services (UBS) will be at Allied Health in Coffeeville on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
UBS is this area’s non-profit community blood provider serving patients in Mississippi and west Alabama.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian.
County’s 4-H Agent Schedules Informative Session On October 22
“Hey Kids! Do you like travel? Do you enjoy animals? Do you like to be outside?,” questions Mary Mason Furr, Yalobusha County 4-H Agent.
Well…if you answered yes, 4-H offers opportunities in these areas and many more. To learn more about 4-H, you are invited to attend a quick informational session Thursday, October 22, 6 p.m. in the Yalobusha County Multipurpose Building at Coffeeville. Parents are urged to bring your children and learn how you can get them involved in 4-H.

Pine Valley Invites Public To Haunted Hollow Trail
The Pine Valley Volunteer Fire Department will have their Haunted Hollow Trail the weekend of October 23 and 24.
“Please make plans to join us for a weekend of fun,” invites Chief Ricky Wood. The money raised will be used to purchase equipment for the fire truck. Signs will be put out to detour around the road closing.
Fundraiser Will Help 4-H Competitor Attend National Competition
There will be a 4-H Shooting Sports fundraiser to help Alex Calder attend the National Competition.
A yard sale will be held in the Multipurpose Building, Coffeeville, Saturday, October 31, from 7 a.m. until noon. Masonic Meeting Set For October 22
St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, October 22, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Members are asked to support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. Your help and support is needed during this coming year.
VFW Announces Friday Night Bingo Action
Bingo will be played Friday, October 23, in the VFW 4100 Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Members invite you to come out for a fun-filled night of bingo. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Southern Connection Will Entertain At VFW
Saturday night, October 24, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by Southern Connection. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight. The dance on October 31 will be feature a Halloween costume party.

Gospel Night Is Scheduled In Calhoun City
Gospel night will be held Saturday, October 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the American Legion Building at Calhoun City. Featured singers will be the “SHILOH” Gospel Band, Danny Paul Griffin, Ken Ash, and The Patterson Family. There will be a $5 admission charge and concessions will be available. Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, Blackmur Library will have new operating hours. The new hours are Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until noon.
