NWCC Lady Rangers crush Northeast

Northwest Mississippi Community College forward Hope Adams scores two of her 17 points in the Lady Rangers’ 77-49 victory Feb. 4 in Senatobia, Adams also grabbed 10 rebounds to help Northwest remain in first place in MACJC north division at 8-1.
They blasted the Northeast Lady Tigers 77-49 Feb. 4 at Howard Coliseum in Senatobia.
Northwest, which is riding a four-game win streak and has won seven of its last eight contests, improved to 11-5 overall. The MACJC north division-leading Lady Rangers hold a one-game lead in the standings over both Itawamba and Mississippi Delta. Northwest is 8-1 in the division.
It didn’t take long for the Lady Rangers to show their dominance against Northeast. Northwest jumped to a 22-7 lead after the opening eight minutes behind a quartet of three-point baskets.
Lady Ranger sophomore forward Kortny Tucker of Holly Springs drained a three-pointer just before halftime to give her team a 46-27 advantage at intermission.
Northwest’s defense caused the Lady Tigers all sorts of problems which led to easy baskets in transition. The Lady Rangers opened the second period with a 22-2 run to claim a 68-29 lead with 10:43 left and cruised the rest of the way.
Sophomore forward Hope Adams of Oxford notched her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Rangers travel to Moorhead Monday, Feb. 8 to battle Mississippi Delta at 6 p.m. Northwest returns home Thursday, Feb. 11 to host Coahoma in its final home game of the season at 5 p.m.
