Garden Clubs Asks People Not Post Signs In Railroad Park

    The Town and Country Garden is respectfully requesting people in the community to refrain from posting signs on the new base of the clock in the railroad park or anywhere else in the park.

    This includes yard signs, political signs or any other promotional literature.

    
Diabetic Wellness Team Schedules Meeting At Community Center

  The Water Valley Diabetic Wellness Team will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 24, at noon in the Edgar Community Center Building at Rolling Hills. The public is invited to attend.

 
County’s Retired Education Personnel Announce Meeting

    The Retired Educational Personnel of Yalobusha County meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26, at the Rolling Hills Apartments – Lawrence Turner Building at 10 a.m.  Linda L. Norwood, District Director, of Oxford,  will attend this meeting and provide valuable information for all in attendance.  All Yalobusha retirees are encouraged to be present and spread the word.

 
Hatchery Manager Is Speaker At Historical Society

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be Justin Wilkens, Manager of the N. Miss. Fish Hatchery and Visitor Education Center located at Enid Lake. The public is invited to all YHS meetings, according to Betty Miller, Secretary, who can be reached at (662) 226-6975 for more information.

 
Magnolia Youth League Announces Registration Dates For Baseball, Softball

  The Magnolia Youth League will begin registration for baseball and softball on Saturday, February 27, and Saturday, March 6  for boys and girls ages 3 through 15.

    Registration will be at the Crawford Sports Complex and for any registration after March 6 there will be a $20 late fee. Anyone having questions may contact Jeff Bynum at 473-3269 or Tommy Edwards at 473-7275.

 
Bayson Chapel Invites Public To Celebrate Black History Program

    Pastor Amos Sims and the members of Bayson Chapel Church extend an invitation to the public to come and worship with them during their Black History Program, February 28, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Pastor C. O. Sutton of Bethlehem M.B. Church of Sardis will be the speaker for the hour. Lunch will be served at 1:30. Sis. Ora L. Phillips is program chairperson.

    “We are asking you to show up and watch God show out,” said Pastor Sims. Bayson Chapel is located at 1272 CR 431, Water Valley.

 
4-H Club Announces Shooting Sports Meeting

Interested in learning gun safety and competing with other children around your age?

The Yalobusha Extension Service 4-H invites the public to the next scheduled 4-H Shooting Sports meeting on February 25 at 6 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Building in Coffeeville.

Local Artists Display Jewelry, Pottery And Art Work At Bozarts

Bozarts Gallery at 403 Main Street is showing work by The Alliance, a group of artists dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts in Water Valley. The Alliance exhibition runs until February 27. Opening hours are Friday and Saturday from noon – 5 pm, and by appointment: 473-2484.  

On display is jewelry, pottery, and new art work by Anissa Wilkinson, William Warren, Aynslee Moon, Lyn Kartiganer, Nicole Gladden, Hanne Gaycken, Gabriella DeLawey, Pati D’Amico, Angela G. Clanton, Kay Bounds and Andi Sherill Bedsworth.

 
Extension Service Offers Master Gardener Certification

Yalobusha County Extension Service will offer Master Gardener Certification each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. in February and March provided five people sign up to attend.  Extensive training will be given in the field of horticulture. The training will be held at the Multi-purpose Building.  

This training will cost $85 and will include registration, a notebook and refreshments.  This also covers first year of membership.  There is a Master Gardener Program in the county and anyone interested in gardening of any kind is encouraged to attend. Please call the Extension office at 675-2730 to pre-register, or for additional information.

 
Valley City Lodge Announces Pot Luck Meal, Degree Work

    Valley City Lodge #402 F&AM will confer a Master Masons Degree on Thursday, February 18, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. The Degree work will follow. All members are reminded to attend.

 
Jeff Davis Water Association Holds Annual Meeting

  The Jeff Davis Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting March 1, in the association’s building, 13589 Highway 32 West, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

 
VFW Post 4100 Makes Plans For Friday Night Bingo Action

    VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, February 19. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6, and the first of 24 games starts at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.


Southern Country Band Performs At Saturday VFW Dance

  Saturday night, February 20, VFW Post 4100 welcomes the public to a musical night of entertainment by the Southern Country Band. The band starts at 8 p.m. and plays until midnight.
