NWCC Lady Ranger softball team gets swept at Itawamba

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Ranger softball team was limited to just five hits in two games and fell to the Itawamba Lady Indians in both ends of a doubleheader March 24 in Fulton.

Northwest lost by scores of 5-1 and 3-0 to drop to 16-8 overall and 2-2 in the MACJC North Division.

The Lady Rangers were held scoreless in the first contest until freshman pitcher Lauren Kendall of Boyle singled home sophomore first baseman Angela Carden of Southaven. Northwest collected four hits in the game.

Kendall suffered her first loss of the spring which dropped her record to 2-1. Kendall was touched for 12 hits and four earned runs.

The Lady Rangers were held to one hit in the second game that came from sophomore shortstop Mandy Bolden of Holly Springs.

Northwest freshman pitcher Magen Fullwood of Shiloh, Tenn., took the loss and moved her record to 6-3. Fullwood struck out one and gave up three hits and three unearned runs.

The Lady Rangers host Mississippi Delta Saturday, March 27 in Senatobia. The MACJC North Division doubleheader starts at 12 p.m.
