Class Of 1990 Seeks Information From Classmates

    The Water Valley High School Class of 1990 is planning a reunion on August 28. Organizers are working to collect addresses and information from all class mates. Lions Will Raffle Television

    The Water Valley Lions Club will again be raffling a 37 inch Vizio HD LCD television. Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on Saturday of the Watermelon Carnival during the noon hour. You do  not have to be present to win. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member.
 

 Chamber Seeks Class Composite Photos For Carnival Program

    The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to have a composite picture of any class planning a reunion during Watermelon Carnival weekend. Just drop the picture by the chamber office and it will be scanned and returned to you. Also, if you would like an ad in this year’s Carnival Program, and you have not been contacted, just call the office at 473-1122, and tell them what size ad you desire.
 

Arts Council Sponsors Camp For Students Grades One To Six

On July 12-16, the Water Valley Arts Council will hold an art camp for children in grades 1st to 6th. A $50 tuition fee includes materials and snacks. Scholarships are available.  Registration forms are available at Bozarts, Turnages, or the Main Street Office. Friends Of Oakland Announce Annual Association Meeting

The annual association meeting of Friends of Oakland will be Wednesday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Presbyterian Church. All officers and directors are expected to attend.
 

District Horse Show Kicks Off June 24 In Batesville

 The Northwest District 4-H Horse Show will be June 24-26th at Ranch One Arena in Batesville (it’s air conditioned).  If you plan to attend roping and goat tying are scheduled on June 24th at 4 p.m.  Halter, showmanship and western classes are on June 25, starting at 9 a.m.  Gaited, English and speed classes are on June 26, starting at 9 a.m.  Admission is free, so come support our young people.
 

Cooking Contest Set At Moorse Chapel Church

 The Batesville District is sponsoring a men’s cooking contest Saturday, June 26, beginning at 12:30 p.m., at Moorse Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
 

Masons Announce Monthly Meeting

    St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, June 24, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Members are urged to support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. Your help and support is needed during this coming year.
 

Rally In The Valley Raises Funds For Christian Academy

 Rally In The Valley will be held June 25-27 at Highway 32 and 7 in Water Valley. There will be free camping for tents and self contained campers.

  Live music by Hwy. 69 South will be played on Friday and Saturday night. Vendors are welcome and there is no set up fee. There will be bike games, W/CMA.

Reunion Committee Seeks Info From Class Of 1982 Members

 The Water Valley High School Class of 1982 will have a tent set up at this years Watermelon Carnival, August 7. The reunion committee will be gathering information for the upcoming 30 year reunion. All class members and friends are invited to stop by and visit – hope to see all of you there.

Reports Cards Remain Available For Pickup At High School

  Report cards are still available for pick up at Water Valley High School each Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
 

 Bingo Is Cancelled At VFW

 Bingo will not be played at the VFW Post Home Friday night, June 25, due to the state convention being held.

  Bingo will be played next week on Friday night, July 2.

Sexton Band Performs At VFW

  The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week, June 26, at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Providing the music from 8 p.m. until midnight will be the Sexton Band. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.
 

Public Hearing On Aging Programs Scheduled In Winona

  The North Central Planning and Development District/Area Agency on Aging will hold a public hearing for Aging Programs on Wednesday, July 7, from 10 a.m. until noon in the Montgomery County Courthouse at Winona.

  The purpose of this hearing is to allow the Area Agency on Aging and the Mississippi Department of Human Services the opportunity to inform interested persons about programs and services available for senior citizens in Attala, Carroll, Grenada, Holmes, Leflore, Montgomery and Yalobusha counties.

 The goals and objectives for fiscal year 2011 will be discussed and an update of current year activities will be presented. Comments from the public are welcomed.

Wildflower Tour Set At Tillatoba

    The wildflower tour at the Jamie L. Whitten Plant Materials Center will be June 30.  Wagon Tours will start around 8:30 a.m.  There will be presentations in the field and at the facility.  Wildflower seeds will be available for purchase and you can bring a plant and trade for another one at the plant swap.  Admission is $3 per person and this includes lunch.  Please notify our office at 675-2730 by June 21st if you plan to attend.
           

State Offers Boating Class

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will host a boating education class on June 26 at the Multipurpose Building in Coffeeville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
