  Report cards are still available for pick up at Water Valley High School each Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

 
Stewart Family Makes Plans For July 10 Reunion

  The 31st Annual Stewart Reunion will be held Saturday, July 10. The site of the reunion will be the Masonic Temple, 122 Champion Circle, just off Highway 7 South in Water Valley. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring a pot luck dish to share at noon. If you have any questions, contact Patricia at 473-4788.

 
Arts Council Sponsors Camp For Students Grades One To Six

On July 12-16, the Water Valley Arts Council will hold an art camp for children in grades 1st to 6th. A $50 tuition fee includes materials and snacks. Scholarships are available. Darby Family Reunion Set For July 31 At Sardis Lake

  The Darby reunion will be held July 31 at the Riverside Pavilion on Sardis Dam. All descendants of Albert Ester Darby and Tamzey Zuleen Matthews are invited to attend. “Please make plans to attend,” says Judy Darby Perkins.

 
Masonic Chapters Schedule Meeting

  McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J. J. Melton Council No. 50 will hold their regular scheduled meetings at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle on Thursday, July 8, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members of these two Masonic bodies are encouraged to attend.

 
Valley City Lodge Initiates Candidate At Meeting

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will have a called meeting at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 9. The purpose of the meeting is to initiate a candidate into the First Degree. All members in good standing are requested to attend this meeting.

 
Pleasant Agers Make Plans For Monthly Meeting

  Pleasant Agers will have their monthly meeting Wednesday, July 21, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. There will be a potluck lunch at noon. The church is located four miles west of Bruce on CR 231, across the railroad on the left. The guest speaker will be retired Minister Jackie Douglas. Pastor Ron Jenkins invites everyone to attend.

 
Reunion Committee Seeks Info From Class Of 1982 Members

 The Water Valley High School Class of 1982 will have a tent set up at this years Watermelon Carnival, August 7. The reunion committee will be gathering information for the upcoming 30 year reunion. All class members and friends are invited to stop by and visit – hope to see you there.

 
Sharecroppers, Effie Burt Perform At Watermelon Music Festival

Plans are underway for the Watermelon Music Festival, the kick-off event for the Watermelon Carnival.

The annual event will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Civic Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m with music by the Sharecroppers along with performer Effie Burt.

The Town and Country Garden Club promises a good lineup of local and area entertainers to get everyone into the Watermelon Carnival spirit, according to Co-chairmen Jonnie Mayo and Zandra Walker.

Tickets can be purchased from any Town and Country Garden Club member.

 
WVHS Football Team Offers Jerseys To The Public

The Water Valley school football team is selling white, away jerseys previously used by the Blue Devil team from 2005 – 2009. Eastern Star Announces July 13 Meeting Date

  Water Valley Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star will have its next meeting Tuesday, July 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are encouraged to attend.

 
Bingo To Be Played Friday Night At The VFW

  Bingo will be played at VFW Post 4100’s Home Friday night, July 9. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6 and the first of 24 games starts at 7 p.m. The Post Home is located at 11535 Hwy. 315, west of Water Valley. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Danny Sexton Band To Play At The VFW Dance Saturday Night

  The regular VFW Saturday Night Dance will feature music by the Danny Sexton Band from 8 until 12 Midnight July 10. “Come dance, or just listen, to live country music at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.
