Reunion Committee Seeks Info From Class Of 1982 Members
The Water Valley High School Class of 1982 will have a tent set up at this years Watermelon Carnival, August 7. The reunion committee will be gathering information for the upcoming 30 year reunion. All class members and friends are invited to stop by and visit – hope to see you there.
Lions Club Raffles Television
The Water Valley Lions Club will again raffle a 37-inch Vizio HD LCD television. Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on Saturday of the Watermelon Carnival during the noon hour. You do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member.
Masonic Chapter Announces Monthly Meeting
St. Cyr Command No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, July 22, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Please support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. The Commandry needs your help and support during this coming year.
Tri-Lakes Fairgrounds Hosts Summer Festival
Mississippi Delta Shows will be playing the Summer Festival at the Tri-Lakes Fairgrounds on Highway 315, west of Water Valley, July 21 through 24. Arm Band Night will be Wednesday night (July 21) from 6 to 10 p.m. when for $15 you can ride as many rides as you wish. “The Tri-Lake Fairgrounds Association invites everyone to come on out for a night of thrills, chills and laughter on the Midway Carnival Rides,” states Publicity Chairman J. C. Womble.
Bozarts Latest Exhibit Concludes This Weekend
Bozarts Gallery is currently showing “10 Invite 10.” The exhibit features photography by Erin Austen Abbott and Kichea Burt; paintings by Libby Kuchta, Shirley Hamilton, Leslie Love, Michael Tarrent Maxwell, Elma Orr, and Caren Vitell, and fabric art by Mary Ann Godso and Marty Vinograd.
This is the last weekend to see this show. The gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays from noon – 5 pm and located at 403 N. Main Street.
Prayer Walk Announced At Coffeeville, Water Valley Schools
The School Prayer Walk will be held Sunday, July 25, at 2 p.m. “Please join us at Water Valley High and Elementary Schools or Coffeeville High and Elementary Schools, where we will be praying for the students, parents, and staffs of our school district. Looking forward to seeing you,” stated Bro. Hal Clark and Mrs. Marie Shields, Yalobusha Baptist Association Prayer Coordinators.
Pink Ladies Schedule Yard Sale
The Yalobusha General Hospital and Yalobusha County Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) will hold a yard sale on October 1 and 2. All proceeds will go to the hospital and nursing home.

Class Of 1960 Makes Plans For 50 Year Reunion
The Water Valley High School Class of 1960 will hold its 50 year reunion on August 7. The class encourages friends and family to stop by their tent at the park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The reunion dinner and program will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors are welcome to join the class at the conclusion of their program at the White Star Restaurant.
Chamber Sponsors Cooking Contest During Annual Carnival
The Water Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a cooking contest during the annual Watermelon Carnival. Categories will include ribs, chicken, desserts, best side and anything watermelon. The total prize money awarded for top contestants will be $1,500.
The dessert category will include cakes, pies, jellies and fried pies. The best side category will include any side dish including non-alcoholic beverages and sauces. The anything watermelon categories will include any watermelon dish.

Bingo To Be Played Friday Night
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, July 23. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales begin at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Water Valley Classes Of 1961, 1958 Host Informal Reunion
The Water Valley High School Classes of 1961 and 1958 will hold a joint, informal reunion on Saturday, August 7, in the fellowship hall of the Church of Christ, located on the N.W. corner of the intersection of Main and Wise Streets. Hours will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., but we hope that everyone will make an attempt to be there between 12 and 2 in order to see more classmates and to take photos.
If you were ever a member of either of these classes, you are invited, as well as family members, friends, teachers, and coaches. A special invitation is extended to the class of 1960.
Refreshments will be furnished by classmates on a voluntary basis. If you have old photos and school memorabilia, please bring them and let’s all enjoy a day of fellowship and fun.
VFW Dance Set For Saturday Night
The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week on July 24 at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Hood and The Sounds of Time from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.
Jeff Davis School Reunion Set For Carnival Weekend
The Jeff Davis school reunion will be held in the Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Saturday, August 7, starting at 6 p.m. The church is located on County Road 220. All former students, friends, and relatives are invited to attend for fun and fellowship. Please bring a pot luck dish. “Hope to see everyone there,” invites Jim Tate. Football Program Honors 1990 Championship Team
The Water Valley Football Program is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1990 state championship football team by honoring all players, coaches, cheerleaders, and staff at half time on homecoming, Friday, September 10. WVHS Football Team Offers Jerseys To The Public
The Water Valley school football team is selling white, away jerseys previously used by the Blue Devil team from 2005 – 2009. WVHS All Class Get Together Scheduled For August 7
Water Valley School Alumni are invited to an “all class” get together to be held in conjunction with the Watermelon Carnival. The gathering will take place in the First Christian Church Activities Center on North Main Street Aug. 7, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please contact Viola Moore at (662) 473-1337 or (662) 473-8434 to RSVP. “We need to know if you are coming, so we can plan the food and drinks accordingly,” Moore said. Attendees are requested to bring a dish of their choice along with photos and memorabilia from the good old days.
