Come Out And Meet The Blue Devils
Football action kicks off Friday night with a scrimmage game scheduled at 7:30 against Vardaman. Come out and meet the Blue Devils during an introduction with players and cheerleaders at 7 p.m. The concession stand will be open, serving great barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and other items.
Football Program Honors 1990 Championship Team
The Water Valley Football Program is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1990 state championship football team by honoring all players, coaches, cheerleaders, and staff during half time on homecoming, Friday, September 10. Youth League Schedules Fall Soccer Registration
Magnolia Youth League’s fall soccer registration will begin Saturday, August 14, and continue through Saturday, August 21. Boys and girls, ages 4 through 12, may participate. The cost is $45 for the first child, $40 for the second child, and $35 for each child after the second. Pink Ladies Seek Items For October Yard Sale
The Yalobusha General Hospital and Yalobusha County Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) will hold a yard sale on October 1 and 2. All proceeds will go to the hospital and nursing home.

United Blood Service Holds Blood Drive In Coffeeville
United Blood Services will hold a blood drive at the Coffeeville First Baptist Church Family Life Center Thursday, Aug. 19, from 4:30 pm-8:30 pm.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian.
United Blood Services is this area’s non-profit community blood provider serving patients in Mississippi and west Alabama. It takes over 250 blood donations everyday to meet the needs of area patients.
UBS is open 7 days a week in Tupelo at 4326 S. Eason Blvd. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.; and Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Oxford Civic Chorus Holds Auditions For 2010-2011 Season
Auditions for the Oxford Civic Chorus 2010-2011 session will be held in the Oxford University United Methodist Church’s Wesley Hall on Monday, August 16, at 6:30 p.m., and on Monday, August 23, at 6:30 p.m. OUUMC is located at 424 South 10th Street in Oxford.
The chorus will be accepting new singers only through the August 23 audition. “Singers, warm up your voices and prepare to warm the hearts of music lovers across the Mid-South,” stated Jennie Jackson.
Vietnam Veteran Reviews Book At Historical Society Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be Gene Hayes of Oxford, a Vietnam veteran and author. Monthly Meeting For Purple Heart Members Set For August 14
Commander Robert Bramlett announces that Purple Heart members hold their regular monthly meeting on the second Saturday of each month, August 14, in the Veterans Building located at 125 Veterans Drive, Oxford. The meeting starts with lunch at noon and is followed by a business meeting at 1 p.m. All members and combat-wounded veterans are urged to attend this important meeting.
VFW Offers Bingo Action
VFW bingo will be played Friday night, August 13. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled night of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6 and games begin at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years to play.
Sexton Band Performs At Saturday VFW Dance.
Saturday night, August 14, VFW Post 4100 welcomes you to a musical night of entertainment by The Sexton Band. Public Is Invited To Memorial Service For CSA Soldier
A memorial service and monument dedication ceremony will be held for Pvt. Harmon M. Berry, 8th Miss. Cavalry, CSA at Wyatt Chapel Cemetery at the intersection of county roads 122 and 223 in Yalobusha County on Sunday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. All interested individuals are invited to attend.
