Sunday, Sept. 5
A 10th anniversary and homecoming celebration will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church this Sunday, September 5.
The services will begin with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., with the message delivered by Rev. Ken Izzard, pastor of the church. Rev. Jimmy Dale Sartain, a former interim pastor, was scheduled to be the visiting preacher. Due to illness in the family Bro. Sartain will not be present. Leading the music worship service at 10:30 a.m. will be Linda Williams, a former Minister of Music at Woodland Hills. There will be a pot luck meal at the conclusion of this service. The day’s activities will conclude with an informal time of fellowship.
“All former members and pastors are cordially invited to attend this special service and all members are urged to be present,” says Anniversary/HC Committee Chair Barbara Warren.

Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, located at 985 CR 169 in Coffeeville, will celebrate its Women/Men Day September 5, beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. Larry Ware and the Bethlehem Church family will be special guests. “Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of this great occasion, as we are about our Father’s business,” stated Minister Lawrence M. Matthews, pastor.
Saturday, Sept. 11
Glenda Brock-Woods will sing at the Pleasant Grove Church on Saturday, September 11. “You’ve heard ‘Yes He Did’, ‘I’m Healed’, ‘In My Weakest Hour’, and her other songs on the radio. Now see and hear her minister in person,” invites Rev. Larry J. Hervey, pastor.
The program starts at 6 p.m. She is currently working on her second solo project and authoring her first book. Other musical guests will also be featured.
Sunday, Sept. 12
Everdale Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual Mens and Women Day Program on Sunday, September 12, beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. Cleveland Alexander, pastor of Pine Grove West, will be the guest speaker. Everdale is located at 410 Calhoun Street in Water Valley. Rev. Phillip Brackett serves as pastor
Tuesday, Sept. 14
The Word of Life Ministries of Oakland, under the leadership of Apostle Samuel and Pastor Carolyn C. Jones, will have their school dedication September 11, at 9 a.m., with classes beginning on September 14 at 6:30 p.m. Applications can be picked up at Spring Hill North M.B. Church, Water Valley. Sept. 12 – 16
Sanders Chapel M.B. Church will have fall revival services beginning Sunday, September 12, at 6 p.m., and continuing Monday, September 13, through Thursday, September 16, beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Pastor Grady McKinney of Parrish Grove M.B. Church, will be the guest speaker.
Friday, Sept. 17
An evangelistic revival will begin Friday night, September 17, at 7 p.m. at Moorse Chapel, with Pastor Shirley Washington and Vision Outreach Ministries, as guests. Revival services will continue Monday through Friday, September 20-24, at 7 p.m. nightly, with Pastor Basil Brooks from Cordova, Tenn. as the evangelist for the week.
The services will climax on Saturday night, September 25, with Choir Night. “Everyone is invited to come and join us, as we lift up the name of Jesus,” stated Elder Kevin Coakley.
