Masonic Chapter Schedules Monthly Meeting
St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will holds its next stated Conclave on Thursday, October 28, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members are urged to please support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. Your help and support is needed during the coming year.
Panola Playhouse Musical Runs This Weekend
Panola Playhouse will present “Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde, The Musical,” this Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, beginning at 2:30. Tickets may be reserved at panolaplayhouse.com or purchased at the door if available. In this production Vallian Tommy Latham is John Utterson, Jekell’s good friend and lawyer.
Lions Club Announces Fundraiser
The Water Valley Lions Club will have their annual White Cane Roadblock this Friday afternoon. Proceeds from this go to support the various activities of the Lions Sight Foundation of Mississippi, including the Hearing Impaired Program, Mississippi Lions Eye Bank, Lions Sight Screening Program, Diabetes Awareness, and Sea and Sun Camp.
VFW Schedules Bingo Action
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, October 29. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Yalobusha Cattlemen Schedule October 28 Meeting
Yalobusha Cattlemen will hold a meeting on Thursday, October 28 at 7 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Multi-Purpose Building in Coffeeville. The topic of the program will be “Bull Selection” and will be presented by Lance Newman, area livestock agent for the Mississippi State University Extension Service.
A meal will be served. Please call the MSU Extension Office at 675-2730 by Tuesday, October 26, to register. The association is proud to have Ware Milling to sponsor the meeting and Bryan McCullough with Yalobusha Feed and Seed to cater the meal. We are requesting that each person contribute $5.00 to help cover the cost of the delicious meal that is planned for the meeting.
Tri Lake Rural Water Association Sets Date For Annual Meeting
The Tri-Lake Rural Water Association will hold its Annual Meeting in the Farm Bureau Building on Thursday, October 28, beginning at 7 p.m.
Cossar Hosts Halloween Activities
Cossar State Park will hold their annual Halloween activities Saturday, October 30. There will be games in the Visitor Center and also a cake walk. There will also be a haunted trail. Friends of Cossar Park will have a concession stand open. Activities will start at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 10.
Yalobusha 4-H Hosts Monthly Meeting On October 28
Yalobusha County Family Consumer Science (FCS) 4-H Club will host its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 28, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Mary Mason Furr, MSU 4-H Agent, will present the program featuring a hallow surprise.
4-H is a learn-by-doing program offered to youth, ages 8-18. Please contact the Extension Office @ 662 675 2730 for more information. This program is free and open to the public.
Jason Adams Band Performs At VFW Dance
The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week on October 30 at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Jason Adams Band from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips. There will be a Halloween costume party Saturday, October 30, and everyone is welcome to attend.
VFW Posts Sets Date For Annual Veterans Day Ceremony
VFW Post 4100 will hold their annual Veterans Day Ceremony November 11, beginning at 11 a.m. at the monument on Main Street in Water Valley. Col. Robert Thomas will be the guest speaker.
In the event of bad weather the ceremony will be held in the Post Home at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. After the ceremony there will be a fish fry free to the public.
On behalf of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States there will be a special presentation to the family of the late Sgt. David A. Holmes who was killed in Afghanistan on June 26, 2010. “Everyone is urged to attend the ceremony and pay respects to our fallen comrades,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.
Water Valley Junior Auxiliary Sponsors First Junk Sale
The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley will have their first JA Junk Sale Saturday, November 6, from 7 a.m. until noon, in the First Christian Church Activity Center. Proceeds from this sale will go to support the children in the Water Valley Community. JA invites everyone to join them for their first JA Junk Sale and help benefit the children of the community.
Lafayette FFA Alumni Host Trail Ride
The Lafayette FFA Alumni Trail Ride will be held Saturday, November 13, in the National Forest on Highway 30. Sign-in time will be 9 a.m. and the trail ride will begin at 10:30.
Rules for the ride are: absolutely no alcoholic beverages; be courteous and considerate of your fellow riders; no running or loud, boisterous behavior on the trails; and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
In order to ensure the safety of all trail riders, the Alumni reserves the right to remove uncontrollable and/or unruly horses and people from the trail. A negative coggins on each horse must also be presented upon arrival.
