Fish Hatchery Hosting Ornament Making Event

ENID LAKE – On Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center will offer youngsters the opportunity to make Christmas ornaments for birds. Our feathered friends give us so much enjoyment throughout the year. Join us in showing them how much we appreciate them by creating edible ornaments to decorate their trees. This program will be for all ages with a variety of ornaments for various skill levels.

Children can have fun working with colored Cheerios and creating “bird diners” from juice cartons. They can also use birdseed to cover pretzels, pinecones, and more. All the supplies are provided, so come ready to create something for the birds to eat. Some of the creations made will decorate the trees around the hatchery, but most will go home with the artists. In this way, children can see the birds around their homes enjoying a delicious Christmas dinner!

The NMFH is part of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and is located off Interstate-55 at Enid, Exit 233 east. To make your reservation for this program call the NMFH at 622-563-8068. For additional information about this, and other programs, call or visit the website at
