Pleasant Agers will meet at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church January 19 at 12 p.m. for a potluck lunch. After lunch Rev. Justin Gates, pastor of Old Town Baptist Church, will be in charge of the program. The church is located four miles west of Bruce on County Road 231.
The pastor and members of the Smith Chapel M.B. Church invite everyone to their three night healing and deliverance services on Jan. 19-21, starting at 7 p.m. nightly. Evangelist Lorraine Hale-Bryant of Muskogee, Okla., will be the guest speaker for these services.
On the following Sun-day, Jan. 23, at 2:30 p.m. the church will celebrate the 10th year appreciation of Pastor and Mrs. Richard E. Smith. Pastor Mitchell Steen along with the Sanders Chapel Church family will be special guests.
Friday, January 21
A ladies event will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church Friday night, January 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The program will be in the fellowship hall.
The speaker for the evening will be Brenda Lee Parsons. Brandy Barrett of Life Point Church in Senatobia will provide entertainment.
Parsons will speak on “How to Stand the Storms.” As a wife and mother, she is well aware of difficulties raising children with values and consciences. She is committed to making a difference in her children’s lives and is burdened to help others find answers. She is also a former resident of Water Valley.
“All women are invited to join us for this special program,” states Judy Miller, program chairman. Coffee and desserts will be served afterwards.
Saturday, January 22
Mt. Liberty Church, located 603 CR 284, invites everyone to join us Saturday, January 22, at 6 p.m. for great bluegrass gospel music by The Larry Nelson Family from Arkansas. Finger foods will be served afterwards.
Tuesday, January 25
Coffeeville First Baptist Church will host the Y-Fest prayer meeting on Tuesday, January 25, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Y-Fest 2011 will be held March 4 and 5 in the Yalobusha County Multi-Purpose Building in Coffeeville.
Saturday, January 29
The program, “Raising Young Women of Excellence,” will be held January 29, beginning at 1 p.m., in the New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. Church in Coffee-ville. For directions to the church call 473-6157.
Some of the topics to be discussed include: abstinence; teen pregnancy; dressing to impress for success; inappropriate use of technology, cell phones, Facebook, sexting. Prizes will be given and refreshments will be served.
