Y-Fest Set For March 4 And 5 At Multi-purpose Building
Y-Fest 2011 marks the 9th annual youth-fest and will be held in the Yalobusha Multi-Purpose Building at Coffeevile on March 4 and 5. As always, this year promises to be the best.
There has been a change in the speaker. Bro. Terry Caffey will not be able to be here for that weekend. As always when one door is closed God opens another. Ryan Melson, Voice of Revolution, from Florence, Ala. will be the guest speaker. The Tom Edwards Band will lead in praise and worship.

Homemakers Schedule Business Meeting, Program On Jan. 18
On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers will meet at the Extension office at the Multi-purpose Building. The business meeting is scheduled at 9 a.m. and the program will follow at 10 a.m. The program is sponsored by Renasant Bank and will include information on the upcoming bank-sponsored trips in 2011.
Identity Theft Is Topic At Historical Society Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, in its headquarters in the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The guest speaker will be Rita Green, of Grenada. Rita is the Family Resources Management Extension Agent for Mississippi State University. She will speak on identity theft. The public is invited to all society meetings.
Bobby Hood Band Will Entertain At VFW Dance
The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held this week on January 22 at the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Bobby Hood Band from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.
VFW Cancels Thursday Bingo
There will be no bingo at the Post Home of VFW Post 4100, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley this week. The cancellation is due to a VFW meeting in Gulfport Friday night, stated Commander Sam Phillips

The Yalobusha Forestry Association will meet Thursday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Extension office located in the Multi-Purpose Building in Coffeeville. The public is invited to attend.
Jig Tying Seminar Set For Jan. 22 At North Mississippi Fish Hatchery
Designing and creating hand-tied jigs can be an enjoyable hobby, especially during the long, cold winter months.
At 2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 22, Gwin Jackson, the owner of Jiggy With It in Pope will present a jig-tying seminar at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and Visitor Education Center at Enid Lake. Come to the seminar and find out the inside information before hitting the lake for crappie fishing this spring and to learn the different stages of tying hand-made jigs from hook to final product. The program is free with paid admission.

Annual Habitat Day At Enid Lake Is Saturday, Feb. 5
Enid Lake’s Annual Habitat Day has been scheduled for Saturday, February 5, with activities kicking off at 7 a.m. at the Enid Lake Field Office. This year, Habitat Day volunteers will divide into groups, working at Long Branch, Chickasaw Hill, Plum Point and Midway recreation areas.
Northwest Offers Free GED Classes
Northwest Mississippi Community College is now offering FREE GED classes at the Oxford WIN Job Center. The class hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00-4:30. Please contact Amy Bennett or Meghan Feltenstein at 234-3231 if you are interested in enrolling in our program.
GED Testing is also offered by Northwest Mississippi Community College at the WIN Job Center in Oxford on the first Wednesday of every month At least three weeks prior to testing, an applicant must come to the WIN Job Center to complete all steps of the registration process.
