Bobby Hood Band Performs At Saturday VFW Dance
The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week on February 26 in the Post Home located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Bobby Hood Band from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.
Bingo Action Set For Friday Night At VFW
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, February 25. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Registration Continues For Youth League Baseball, Softball
Magnolia Youth League registration for baseball and softball will continue Saturday, February 26, and Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Crawford Sports Complex for ages 3-15. There will be a $20 late fee for any registration after March 5 . The cost to register is $45 for the first child; $40 for the second child; and $35 for each child after the second. Pesticide Certification Training Offered On Feb. 28
Private Applicator pesticide certification training will be held at the Multi-Purpose Building, in Coffeeville. There will be a $10 charge for the training. You must be certified in order to buy restricted use pesticides.
This training is to certify private applicators who are 18 years of age or older and produce an agricultural commodity on his/her farm. The date for the training is February 28, 2011 beginning at 10 a.m. thru 12 p.m.
High School Drama Club Presents Romantic Comedy
The Water Valley High School Drama Club will present ‘Almost, Maine’ a romantic comedy by John Cariani Thursday, March 3, beginning at 7 p.m. The presentation will be in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Admission will be $5 at the door.
Poetry Readings Resume At Bozarts Gallery

Learn About Roses During Noon Meeting Thursday
Lynette McDougald, Instructor and Manager of the MSU Florist, will discuss roses during the noon session on Thursday, February 24. During the session, entitled “Everything Coming Up Roses,” she will share popular roses, designs, care and handling, and variety identification. Join us from noon to 1 p.m.!
Calhoun Quilt Show Is March 4
The Calhoun County MHV Council members are sponsoring their 7th annual Quilt And Apron Show on March 4 and 5. Anyone interested in exhibiting their quilts is invited to bring them to the Multi Purpose Building between Feb. 21 and March 2. The exhibitor does not have to be a MHV member.
Quilts can be pieced, appliquéd, embroidered or any other medium. They can be hand or machine quilted and may be any size. There will also be categories for quilted pillows, aprons, wall hangings, table runners, bonnets, clothing and accessories.
Everyone is encouraged to come view the exhibit on Friday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2, which will also entitle you to a ticket on two quilts that will be given away on Saturday. St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, February 24, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Mathis/Edwards Family Schedules Reunion

Municipal Executive Committee Schedules Special Meeting
The Yalobusha County and Municipal Executive Committee will hold a special meeting on Saturday morning, March 5, beginning at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Oakland Town Hall at Oakland. The meeting is open to the public.
Coffeeville Church Starts Community Choir
New Life C.O.G.I.C., located at 10276 Kennedy Street in Coffeeville, has begun a community choir. The public is invited to join this choir, which meets at 1 p.m. each Saturday for rehearsal.

Semi-Pro Basketball Tournament Scheduled In Duck Hill
The North Mississippi Championship Semi-Pro Basketball Tournament for both women‘s and men’s teams will be held this Saturday, February 26, in the Duck Hill Gym. Games will begin at 10 a.m. and continue all day. This is sponsored by Freddie Folson Sports Organization.
Yalobusha 4-H Plans March Events
The Yalobusha 4-H has scheduled a number of events in the coming weeks starting March 7 with a shooting sports safety meeting. This meeting is mandatory for all community youth, ages 8-18, interested in participating in the 4-H shooting events. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Building in Coffeeville.
A dance club meeting is also scheduled on March 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Building.
