Poetry Readings Resume At Bozarts Gallery

Spring into Poetry!, an open mic event with live music and a featured reader, meets the fourth Friday of every month (2/25, 3/25, 4/22) through April from 6 to 8 pm within the welcoming walls of Bozarts Gallery, 403 N. Main Street, in Water Valley. All are invited to come read or just listen.  See you there.

Calhoun Quilt Show Is March 4

    The Calhoun County MHV Council members are sponsoring their 7th annual Quilt And Apron Show on March 4 and 5.  Anyone interested in exhibiting their quilts is invited to bring them to the Multi Purpose Building between Feb.  21 and March 2. The exhibitor does not have to be a MHV member.

    Quilts can be pieced, appliquéd, embroidered or any other medium.  They can be hand or machine quilted and may be any size. There will also be categories for quilted pillows, aprons, wall hangings, table runners, bonnets, clothing and accessories.

    Everyone is encouraged to come view the exhibit on Friday, March 4  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2, which will also entitle you to a ticket on two quilts that will be given away on Saturday. Make Plans To Attend Costume Party FUNdraiser

    Make plans to attend the Water Valley Arts Council’s March 19th FUNdraiser, the “Come As You Aren’t” Costume Party/Dance. Though costumes are not required, there will be prizes awarded  for the Funniest, Most Beautiful, and Most Original costumes.  The fun begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Bozarts Gallery, 403 N. Mathis/Edwards Family Schedules Reunion

    The Mathis/Edwards Family Reunion will be held at the home of Claud and Nancy Anthony, 345 CR 106 (Mathis Rd.), Water Valley, on the day before Easter. Please plan to attend if you have any connection. Those attending are asked to bring a dish for the meal.

Municipal Executive Committee Schedules Special Meeting

    The Yalobusha County and Municipal Executive Committee will hold a special meeting on Saturday morning, March 5, beginning at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Oakland Town Hall at Oakland. The meeting is open to the public.

Lions Club Will Cook Pancakes At Monthly Breakfast

 The Water Valley Lions Club will host their monthly pancake breakfast this Saturday morning, March 5, from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Lions Depot Building on Main Street.

  For all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee the price of a plate is only $5. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious meal and some great fellowship, while helping to fund the many charitable projects of the Lions Club,” says Lion Ernie Aune.

Coffeeville Church Starts Community Choir

    New Life C.O.G.I.C., located at 10276 Kennedy Street in Coffeeville, has begun a community choir. The public is invited to join this choir, which meets at 1 p.m. each Saturday for rehearsal.

Fish Hatchery To Host Fish Identification Seminar

Want to learn more about fish?

Make plans to attend the Fish Identification Seminar at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5. Josh Howell, a Conservation Associate Biologist with the Fisheries Bureau of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, will present the seminar. Howell will provide information on learning to identify the many different species of fish found in north Mississippi.

The NMFH is located off I-55 at Enid Exit 233 east. The program is free with the price of admission.

Eubank Is Speaker At March Historical Society Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at 2 p. m. Thursday, March 17, in the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be Mrs. Kathy Eubank of Greenville. She will speak on “Historic Preservation.” The public is invited.

Arts Council Sponsors Poetry Reading Features Caulfield Work

    The Water Valley Arts Council is sponsoring a very special poetry reading Friday, March 4, featuring the poetry of Dessie Anderson Caulfield. The reading will take place in Bozarts Gallery, 403 North Main Street, Water Valley, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a free event and open to the public.

Valley City Lodge Announces March Meeting Date

  Valley City Lodge #402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication on Thursday, March 3, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members are urged to be present and to support your lodge.

North Mississippi Women’s Show Set April 9 in Batesville

    The North Mississippi Womens Show will be held April 9 in the Batesville Civic Center, Batesville, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Admission is free and there is free parking. Booth spaces are available for the show. For interested vendors, call Rebecca Smith, Director, at (662) 934-2354.

Yalobusha 4-H Plans March Events

    The Yalobusha 4-H has scheduled a number of events in the coming weeks starting March 7 with a shooting sports safety meeting. This meeting is mandatory for all community youth, ages 8-18, interested in participating in the 4-H shooting events. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Building in Coffeeville.

    A dance club meeting is also scheduled on March 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the Multi-purpose Building.

    On March 8, 4-H horse riding practice will be held from 4:30 to 9 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Building. Don’t forget to look Yalobusha County Extension Service up on Facebook at MSU-Yalobusha County Extension Service to see all of the upcoming programs for March.

Without A Doubt Performs March 5, 12

    “Without A Doubt,” Mt. Liberty Church’s music group, will be performing at Dunn’s Restaurant on Hwy. 32 at Hwy 330 Saturday night, March 5, at 6 p.m. and at the Tula Opry in Tula Saturday night, March 12 at 6 p.m.

Eastern Star Schedules Meeting

 Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have its next regular meeting Tuesday, March 8, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

Registration Continues For Youth League Baseball, Softball

    Magnolia Youth League registration for baseball and softball will continue Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Crawford Sports Complex for ages 3-15. There will be a $20 late fee for any registration after March 5 . The cost to register is $45 for the first child; $40 for the second child; and $35 for each child after the second. Springdale North Church Will Broadcast Services On 95.5

    Springdale North Church will have a Radio & Media Ministry beginning in March. “Tune in to WOXD 95.5  FM every Sunday as we broadcast  our services over the radio. We will air from 7 to 7:30 p.m.,” reports Pastor Sammy Townes.

Jeff Davis Water Association Sets Date For Annual Meeting

     The Jeff Davis Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting March 7, 2011, at 7 p.m., in the Association Building on Highway 32 West. All members are encouraged to attend.
