Relay For Life Team Members Schedule Roadblock Saturday

Relay For Life Team members will host a Roadblock on Saturday morning, April 30, from 7:30  until 11:30 .  All proceeds will go to The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life for Yalobusha County, so please give generously.  Thank you for your support.   

Noon Program Provides Tips On How To Save Money This Summer

    A Quick Bites Program will be presented by Susan Cosgrove, Family Resource Management, Newton County, on Thursday, April 28 at the Multi-purpose Building during the noon hour. Susan will prepare participants for the summer with some tips, “Savings for Summer: Plans, Trips & Tips for making the most with your money.”

Forestry Short Course Set For May 3, 10 And 17

    A forestry short course is scheduled the first three Tuesday nights in May (May 3, 10 and 17), from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each night. The topic is “Forestry for Profit and Recreation.” If you are interested in finding out more about this short course or registering for the class, contact the Extension Office, 675-2730. The deadline to register and pay fee for the class is Thursday, April 21.

Cattleman’s Association Supper Set For May 9

    The Beef Quality Assurance Program, Yalobusha Cattleman’s Association Supper will be held Monday, May 9, at 6 p.m. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Cleanup Day, Business Meeting Set At Drivers Flat Cemetery

    Drivers Flat Annual Cemetery Day will be held Saturday, April 30. Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish and come out and enjoy the fellowship. A business meeting will be held before lunch. Donations for the cemetery up-keep can be made to Drivers Flat Cemetery Fund, c/o Buster Potts, 1911 Hwy. 315, Water Valley, MS. 38965.

Mike Williams Band Will Entertain At VFW Dance

    The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held April 30 in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Mike Williams Band from 8 p.m. until midnight.         “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.

VFW Invites Public To Bingo

    VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, April 29. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun-filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You  must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Arts Council Meets May 3

    The Water Valley  Arts Council will hold its next meeting Tuesday, May 3, beginning a 6:30 p.m., in the Water Valley Main Street Association Office, 207 North Main Street, Water Valley. Annual Star Nite Talent Show Is May 7

  The 30th Annual Star Nite Talent Show will be held Saturday, May 7, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:45. It will be over around 11:15.

  This show is shaping up to be big, with some main stream talent. Some of the acts are W.V. Ballin High, Oxford Crazy J, Singing poplar song video, Ole Miss Girls, Michael Navron, Shaqua  Williams, Lady R& B, and many more out of Batesville, Coffeeville and Water Valley.

    Call 473-2287, you still have time to enter.   Trophies will be awarded and there is a $150 cash prize to the overall winner.

  Parents it is very important that you remember, if you drop your child off, please be back to pick them up before 11:15.

Mt. Moriah District Invites Public To National Day Of Prayer On May 5

    The 60th Annual National Day of Prayer will be held Thursday, May 5, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Mt. Moriah District Association Building (County Road 211/Oakland Road), Coffeeville.

    The tentative program is opening prayer, welcome, prayer for unity, ministry of music, ministry of giving, prayer for our children, ministry of music, acknowledgments, altar prayer, closing prayer.

Extension Events Scrapbooking Program

If you want to learn how to organize pictures, preserve them in a scrapbook or make a digital scrapbook then come to the Extension Service for an informative session on scrapbooking.

The session is scheduled Thursday, April 28 from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Extension Office.  The program is free and open to the public.
